Im a junior but i was wondering if someone could please chance me for William and Mary!

Grades:
(unweighted) 94.13 , our school doesn't do a 4.0 scale
This is one of my weaker points, but I am earning the full IB diploma, and my grade is brought down but IB Physics. In my AP classes (American History and English) I have a 95 and a 97,respecitvely.
My rank is 58 out of 680 + , so I am in the top ten percent, but a lot of the peopel above me are also in no APs, since my school doesn't weight grades.

Extracurriculars:
A Capella Choir (Auditions -only, 17 members and open to everyone in my school)
Fall Play both years, and I will continue
Spring Musical last year, and I will continue to be in it and will probably recieve a lead at least my senior year if not this year
Drama Club, i am most likely going to be a co - president next year
French National Honor Society
National Honor Society

I haven't taken SATs but my PSAT score was in the 95th percentile

My teacher reccomendations will be excellent (im planning on my director, my american teacher, and my english/ theory of knowledge teacher)

Thanks!

I want to share my experience with prepping an ED app to WM. Our son applied ED and was accepted last night to W&M 2015.Some things to consider.

If you know W&M is your 1st choice, apply ED. The applicant pool is much smaller and you have a much better chance of acceptance.

Rock your essay!! Both the common app and the W&M supplement.Show them who you are!

High scores are important but thats not all they want to see. Look at the thread on this board “It’s Dec1”. A lot of the ED acceptance kids posted there GPA’s and scores.
Take the SAT and /or ACT more than once. W&M will choose the BEST scores , not the best SET of scores. (for instance… our son received a 690CR on the 1st SAT and a 770 CR on the second… a 750M on the 1st SAT and a 730 M on the 2nd SAT… W&M took the 2nd 770CR and 1st 750M…make sense?)

Pick your 4 favorite extra-curriculars to include on the common app.Be very specific to YOU as to why they mean so much.
5.Go to visit the school, make a interview appt and meet some profs in the Dept you are most interested in.In other word, make yourself known.

I think W&M has an ART supplement. Take advantage of it and submit your talent
7…Keep your grades up. Junior year is VERY important.
You are as competitive as they come. Show then how you shine!
(oh … and start your essays drafts next summer, don’t wait!!)
Good Luck :-D

William and Mary, unlike most schools, actually practices what they preach. They view the candidate as a whole, so good numbers will help you, but EC’s will help you just as much. You have great numbers (gpa, im sure sats will be similar), but you need to focus your energy towards your EC’s. I would reccomend beefing up your out of school activities and work towards leadership roles in clubs. Solid academics, but for you to be competitive at top-tier schools like WM, you’re gonna need some “special sauce.”

There’s some good advice on her already such as continuing to be a high achieving student (you’re in a great academic program), take advantage of the fine arts supplement since your extracurricular interests seem to be centered around the fine arts, pursue leadership positions in your organizations, take the SAT/ACT for the first time this spring so that you give yourself the opportunity to retake over the summer or early fall if your scores aren’t where you want them to be, and consider coming to campus this summer for an interview.

As for listing your extracurricular activities, you don’t have to limit your list to only four but don’t feel compelled to fill up all 12 lines the Common App gives you. List only those activities about which you are passionate and truly committed.

As for letters of recommendation, you should limit yourself to three total (and we require one from your guidance counselor). We encourage you to send a letter from your counselor and 1-2 from teachers of academic subjects.

Good luck.

Thank you so much for all the advice!
