thank u for ur time!!! =D

Your stuff looks good, but gpa may be a little low for UC (then again, i dont know your school, etc.) Also, when an admissions person came to our school, she said that essays are the most important part of the application, something which i, nor anyone else on cc, can accurately judge through your post. In my highly unprofessional opinion, you have a shot!

AIME is a nice accomplishment but I’m afraid your GPA is too low. Besides that, varsity captain is good but I think there’s only ~25% chance that you get in with those stats. Good luck though!

I’ve seen ppl with way worse stats than u who get deferred/accepted. IMO I think Duke rejected u cuz of “flag” factors in ur essay/rec… but I may be wrong,

@ collegegrr & hoponpop: thank u for ur opinion! i know my GPA is probably holding me down… i suffered my classes last yr, but i did try to do well hopefully my senior course load can show them that i really am TRYING!

@boomshakalaka: im pretty sure my essays r fine. in the why duke essay, i explained what i loved about duke’s programs and how they matched my interests stuff like that. my common app essay is pretty much about the transition and correlated swimming with the process of me getting use to the new culture after i moved here…

my recs should be good too, the 2 teachers and counselor loved me when they had me and i brought them little gifts from china at the beginning of this school yr… and i had a really good interview…

i was more expecting a acceptance/deffer than a flat rejection… i wonder what happened that put me in the “reject” category… :(

@iamironman: i dont think i can send ONLY the math 2 score in though…

@glassesarechic: yeah i know my GPA and rank is a poo on my application… esp those competitive school… i just wanted to give it a try cuz i really liked U of Chicago when i toured it
