Captain of Speech and Debate
Held an internship with the local newspaper as Intern Opinion Columnist (2009 - 2010)

I've won many awards and honors in speech contests, and last June, I took fourth place in the entire state of California in the Rotary Club Speech Contest
Also took second place in Riverside County in American Legions Speech Contest
Last spring, I scored a perfect score on the Academic Decathlon Essay, a 1000/1000, counting as the top score in Riverside County and in California
This October, I was selected as Student of the Month by the Temecula Chamber of Commerce

As you can see, I can write a pretty snarling essay. I wrote my Common App essay on my aspirations as a lawyer, and how this, plus my skills at "BSing" lead people to not always believe everything I say. It's a modification of my Academic Decathlon speech, which took second place in Riverside County.

My recommendations should be pretty good; one is written by the teacher who nominated for Student of the Month

I'm a pretty heavy reader, and the reason I mention that is because the Columbia Supplement asks which books I read for pleasure this year. I put down each book I read, most of which I enjoyed, including, but not limited to, On The Road by Kerouac, This Side of Paradise by F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Beautiful and the Damned by Fitzgerald, Tender is the Night by Fitzgerald, The Sun Also Rises by Hemingway, The Wasteland by TS Eliot. I've read all of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novels; totally love that dude.

Anyway, that's me in a few hundred words, could you all chance me for those schools? I am fully aware that Columbia is a reach, but I would like to know to what extent. Since I was also curious about those other schools, I turn to you guys. Thanks in advance!
