Hi! I really want to go to A&M quite badly and i'm wondering if I have any chance of getting in. Here are my stats (I already applied and i'm on step 3 so far):

Public High School in North Texas (VERY competitive and recognized)
ACT: 23 (not that great, but not bad - don't know if I should retake it or not)
3.2 GPA (Yes not that great but it's mainly due to our competition)
Top 27% out of 560 or so
Taking 4 AP Classes this year (doing well in them and took 2 last year and passed them all) and taking Dual Enrollment English (All A's, so starting out college so far as a 4.0)

Around 60-70 community service hours
National Honor Society
French National Honor Society
French Club
Marching/Concert Band for 3 years (with awards - left this year to take more challenging courses)
Karate for 5 years
Speak 2 other languages beside English (not really sure if that makes a difference or not)

I feel I have really strong, great essays (I wrote C in addition to A & B) and same to my letters of recommendation.

1st choice major: Business (Unspecified)
2nd choice major: Political Science

*Also, I went on campus visits, housing, and admission and finanical presentation at A&M too.

I’d like some imput if any please. :)

A 23 ACT score is very low. It does not say much for your very competitive & highly ranked public high school. Did you take the SATs? What were scores?

You will not get into Mays College of Business with a 23 ACT and your class rank. I have no idea about political Science.

Good that you went on campus tour.
YOu have good EC’s and A&M likes community service
Good luck to you.

My SAT’s were a little worse than my ACT, so I didn’t want to send them in.
Should I still take my ACT again, even though i’m on step 3 and that I applied before the scholarship deadline?

My main concern is that I would like to get into the university itself, then later I want to apply again to the Mays College of Business. Does my stats seem likely to get in?
Thank you for you input!!

@Dragon5015: Your ACT score would need to be received by Jan 15th … I don’t think a re-take would help ya because I don’t think the timelines work. When in doubt, CALL the ADMISSIONS office and ask!!!

agree with eaglemom10.
I might add, you should go to a prospective student center and talk to an admissions officer there. They can help you - and it looks good to A&M that you are going to use their services. There is one in Arlington.
