11th grade/12th grade- I worked in the dining room of a retirement home for all
of 11th grade, the summer after that, and the beginning of 12th grade about 15
hours/week during the school year and 20 hours/week in the summer. I stopped
working this fall to focus on college apps/volunteering.

Other info: Have visited twice, just had an alumnae interview. Also, my lack of school-centered extracurriculars is mostly due to the fact that my mom has been sick with cancer on and off for most of my high school career and my dad lives in NY, therefore most of my responsibilities have been at home. I included this in my additional info section on the common app.

Since I’m on a chance-thread roll here, I might as well do yours :)

I have to start by saying that I’m just an ED II applicant and, therefore, am 26 days away from having any firsthand experience to back up what I’m saying.

That being said, I think you’re definitely a competitive applicant (you certainly have me jealous :p) and I doubt admission officers will find anything weak about your application after reading your additional info section (I’m assuming that you’re taking the hardest course-load available in your school and that you’ve written pretty good essays).

Clearly, you’ve shown a lot of interest. In my opinion, as an ED II applicant, you’re in  and, as a RD applicant, you’ve got a very good chance of making it in. Oddly enough, even without reading about your special circumstances, I felt as though you presented yourself as a pretty well-rounded and involved applicant (I took ballet when I was 3 as well! But then I quit shortly after and continually walk into things and knock things over as a result :p). Anyway, I hope you get in (and am fairly convinced you will). I would really appreciate you chancing me as well (in as critical a manner as possible! :)).

Good luck!!! And I hope we both make it!!
