I really didn't apply myself most of high school as you can tell by my gpa but hopefully my sat score will make up for it? JMU is my number 1, i dont want to end up going to VCU or WVU
chances?

JMU looks at GPA as closely as they do GPA. Your GPA is on the lower side, but it’s not the hardest thing to bring up. Try doing some AP classes. They might be tough but showing that you have a B in AP, is better than having an A+ in an easier class. They are also on the 5 point scale so it should help you in that regard.

Your EC (extracirriculars) are very good, with the volunteering, and the coaching. It shows you’re well rounded, as well as school minded with what you’ve told me about the clubs you’re in.

Just keep in mind that a 2050 is very good (i only have a 1450, but with reasons attached to that  ).

What JMU thinks of when they see your GPA and SAT scores is that you’re very smart, but you don’t apply yourself. They want people who will apply themselves throughout school, and be very productive. They also look for people who will take an interest in their outside clubs, and college activities. You have the activities down, so you’re good on gthat aspect. You have plenty of time to prove to them that you are able to take the pressures of college, and maintain a good GPA in their school. THAT is what they look for.

My last piece of advice is this:
1.) TAKE AP CLASSES!
2.) Retake SAT as much as you can. Every single time a SAT date pops up, do it.
3.) Do more volunteer work. (it can’t hurt, can it?)
4.) Don’t worry. Just keep doing what your doing (but with the above suggestions) and you’ll do fine.

PS- VCU isn’t THAT bad of a school, and WVU isn’t that bad either. Just knwon for it’s Greek life, and party lifestyle. I mean there isn’t much else you can do in Morgantown ;)
