I am an 8th grade Asian girl. I am taking Geometry right now and I have nearly all As, with a 3.997 GPA. I almost have a B in Geometry but I will bring that grade up. Uh, I have a B+ in PE because my teacher hates me. I take orchestra (second chair + part of a highly selective orchestra) and I take Spanish. I tutor kids for free and play the keyboard at church for community service. I play field hockey, track, swim team and soccer. I play the violin, piano, and guitar. I'm involved in Model UN, National Junior Honors Society, Spelling Bee Club, and attend Math League. My math teacher loves me and she'll probably give me a superb recommendation. My interviews all went okay. I don't think they were amazing, but that's just me. I'm an overachiever.....eh. I got a 2280 on SSAT. 98th percentile. perfect on math.
I'm applying for Andover, SPS, Groton, Blair, & Episcopal.
yeah yeah typical asian. Chance me, por favor.

Do you live in China or USA?

-________- USA im not even chinese,./

then you probably have a good chance =)

sighh…can someone please chance me…

Andover: they reject a lot of great students so i cant really say
SPS: pretty good chance i feel like you would like it here
Groton: pretty good chance
Blair: VERY HIGH chance
Episcopal: idk this school

Wow you seem like a really good student … I think you will get accepted to at least one of them ! but why didn’t you apply to exeter ?

Ah thank you guys so much.
@ylaxw1123 Oh great because I really want to go to St. Paul’s, kinda Andover, and all the other ones were just safetys haha.

I’m in need of full financial aid though… I don’t come from an affluent family. Would that affect my chances?

Oh and do they mail the admission decisions on March 10th? If they do, is there any other way I could get the decision on March 10th?

Oh and Exeter just didn’t interest me hahah i don’t know why. It seemed a lot like a school in my area called Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, which I don’t really want to go to…but TJHSST is my last resort.

fockeyj7, it might. one of my friends who goes to SPS didnt apply for FA her first year because she thought it would affect their chance. they have an FA estimator if you didnt know already.but they are suppose to have a large endowment. best wishes!

Thanks! Can anyone else chance me.

r u serious. You’re local school is better than 90% of Boarding Schools and still don’t want to go there?

Haha it’s not a local school. It’s not like I can go to TJ automatically. I still have to make it in. But since I don’t like math and science, I’m going to hate TJ. It’s also much harder to get into great colleges from TJ because there is so much competition in that school.
My local school is actually Centreville High School and it’s crap.

Did you interview at Blair? I am an alum and I remain very involved with the school. Blair has made tremendous progress over the last 20 years. If you are looking for excellent academics in a challening and yet very nurturing school with VERY nice kids, Blair is superb. The school changed my life. I went to a great college because of Blair, but most importantly did well in college and beyond due to the preparation Blair provided. I am now a physician at the Mayo Clinic. None of the schools/institutions I attended means as much to me as Blair. Best of luck as I am search you will have many great options given your profile.

Oh yes I did interview at Blair! That’s wonderful! What college did you go to?

I attended Kenyon in Ohio, partly as I was an Ohio native and wanted to be closer to family for my college years. Great school. I had many other great choices. Our top 20% at Blair typically attend Ivy League schools or Duke, Stanford, Williams, service academies, etc. Of course, all of the schools on your list will offer the same stellar stats. It’s just that, in my opinion, Blair really offers something unique in its warm, nurturing environment. I attended Blair in the 80s when its reputation was not nearly as good as it is now. In spite of that, I chose Blair over several more prestigious NE schools as simply felt more nurturing, which I needed. Best decision of my life. It still retains that same quality, but with a far superior reputation today, much stronger college placement and superior academics. If you interviewed, I am sure that you had a real sense of what I am alluding. Ryan Pagatto and his admissions team are very personable in their approach. What you saw that day is what you will experience as a student. BTW, while I think your chaces are great, we did see, yet again, a major increase in apps this year. Blair is a school on the move…hope this helps!!

I go to Groton and live literally right down the street from Episcopal. You have a pretty good chance of getting into Episcopal and Groton, but you might have wanted to mention a sport…

Uh well I play soccer, field hockey, and track

My son goes to Blair. Loves, loves, loves it - all the students there seem to feel the same. He had other options and was accepted at the schools you mention.Far and away Blair had the most well rounded, kind culture.
Blair can get a student to any college they would like if the student can do the work.
Nearly all students go to Tier One schools (which is another way of saying most selective colleges)>

athomemom:

Do you know if Blair is still accepting late applicants? I only recently found out about the school and I like it very much…thinking of going there if not accepted to any NE boarding schools, since it’s so close to home.
