I am a junior from NJ. (Female and white)
As of now, I have a highschool UW GPA of 3.6, and a weighted of 4.39, but these are expected to go up senior year to a 3.7 and 4.42 respectively.
My grades have gotten progressively better over the course of highschool and my GPA is brought down by poor grades in history (B-, B, B+), but I plan to pursue a career in the sciences or math
I have taken all honors classes and 2 aps (stat and english), and i am taking 5 more aps senior year (bio, physics, english, calc bc, spanish)

What are my chances at the following:
University of Virginia
Georgetown University
University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill
Dartmouth (Early Decision)
Emory University
Vanderbilt University
California Institute of Technology
McGill University
Bucknell University
University of Pennsylvania
Carnegie Mellon University
Washington University in St. Louis
New York University

Also, would it be a better idea to apply early decision to UVA instead of Dartmouth?

ur GPA looks good, and ur SAT scores are good too. Those schools are all tough to get into, but I’m sure you can get into all them but Dartmouth might be a little challenging.

You look good at UNC, GT, and NYU. You’re a strong candidate, but the rest of the schools on there are too competitive to gauge accurately at all.

I’m applying to UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, and maybe Tufts University.

Stats: factored in 1st semester of Junior Year
UW GPA : 3.704
Weighted: 4.18 (School is large, 2700+ students, only allows maximum of 3 honors/AP courses per student)
Class Rank: top 8th percent
SAT 1 : 2120 (I hope to break 2200 for march SAT)
SAT 2: Math2: 760
Bio (This year) hope to get >750
History: 720
EC: Marching Band (3years), Wind Ensemble(3 years) (Concert Band for higher level players, I play the trumpet), Jazz Band (2 years)(Only accepts 5 trumpets out of the 30 that applied), I’ve taken trumpet lessons for 5 years, newspaper photographer/ editor, 300+ hours volunteering at a special needs children place.

Obstacles :Single Parent due to death.
Mid-low Income level (55k income)

UVA is very difficult for out of state students. Even with 2300+ SATs Your list contains some extremely difficult schools. I would say Bucknell McGill and NYU are high match all the rest will be varying degree of reaches. Its worth a shot but have some safeties too. Good luck!

New York University
University of Virginia
Carnegie Mellon University
University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill

McGill University
Bucknell University

The first four you have a chance at admission. The most prestigious of the four is probably Carnegie Mellon. The next two I’ve never even heard of, I’m assuming you applied there as safety. But the Ivies and other top institutions (Vanderbilt, Caltech, Emory, etc) seem to be a very unlikely long shot.

mainly because i like the location haha. It has a beach as part of its campus, so that would be really fun. I probably won’t end up going there.
