Chance me, please?

Wow many ivies listed there, but I disagree one thing can lock you a spot into into an ivy if your a URM like American Indian and SMART.

Go ahead and post your stats, it’s cool.

Personally, I don’t think you have any realistic chances at any of them, except BU and Maryland.

Thanks!
I’ve got a 3.85 (I think) unweighted GPA, 4.15 Weighted (I think)- based on my own calculations
I’ve got a 2000 flat SAT score, 720 on US History, and 660 on Math (Terribly low) and a 660 on Physics (I took it without finishing the class) <— that might really hurt me
I am the current Vice Commander for my school’s JROTC unit, as well as a frequent volunteer for the local museum. I also participated in the school’s journalism/news paper class, and competed in last year’s science fair, where I went to the Synopsis county championships and won one minor award from the society of professional engineers for an innovative project as well as some honorable mention certificates for my technical paper. I am also the recipient of several JROTC medals for academic excellence and leadership.
I also played tennis for the last four years.

I didn’t apply to as many ivies as the OP did, but I applied to Carnegie Mellon (a snowball’s chance in hell, but whatever), UCLA, Cal, UT Austin, and Texas A&M.
My scores aren’t great, and my GPA isn’t anything special compared to anyone at my school (I’m in the top 4% though). Last night, my friend told me she got a supplement request from UCLA, and she had much better GPA than I do. This kinda scared me, so if you guys would be so kind, please give me a realistic assessment of my chances at all these schools. (I’m a CA resident btw, so it would probably hurt my chances at UT and A&M. Thanks and sorry for long post.

Sorry to play devil’s advocate on this one… But you need safeties on your list. The Ivies are looking for higher scores and more ridiculous ECs, but you may have a chance. I’m just saying you should be careful because you never know who will turn you down.

I’d recommend you add some mid-range/safety/likely schools like Emory University (it seems like you’re into Business based on your activities [treasurer in everything]? Correct me if I’m wrong), University of Texas, University of Notre Dame, Boston College, U Mich, Villanova, U of I Urbana Champaign, etc.

If you’re interested in Computer Programming or Engineering, I’d recommend Texas A&M, U of Texas, U of I, USC, Purdue, Rensselaer Polytechnic, UNC Chapel Hill, and the like.

The Ivies are a crap shoot for anyone. Just keep that in mind. Best of luck to you, my friend.

Tejasfemale - I am into business. I was thinking of doing Engineering for undergrad then an MBA for grad school. Thx!

Kawaiirice -

Carnegie - reach
UCLA - reach
Caltech - reach
The Texas schools - bit of a reach

General question: I have a friend with similar stats to me who is only a sophomore so I was wondering… based off of my stats… what would need to be added to have a more reasonable shot at the Ivies. Be honest, harsh, and brutal. Thanks!

I think your GPA and sat is really low for the ivys. I don’t know why you applied to all the ivys…it seems ridiculous to me because it looks like you applied to them just for the name but that’s just what it looks like to me. You have some awesome ECs, but there are kids with similar ECs and much better stats

Wow* I added sat and the end and didn’t correct the verb. I meant your GPA and sat ARE really low*

Well then, futurepresident… lol

@ HarvardHungry- I meant Cal Berkeley, lol. But based on your given statement it’d probably be the same. Thanks for your input though!
I don’t know much about most of the schools you applied to, but one or two of them might be plausible. I’d say UCLA for sure, but I don’t know much about admissions.
