Already applied to USF and FSU (accepted to both)

Possible hooks: I've lived in egypt, Saudi arabia, Canada, and the USA (diversity). I speak 3 languages (arabic, english, and french).

So what do you guys think? I live in-state, if that affects anything. Any input is appreciated.

I’m just a prospective student but I’d say you’re definitely in, no doubt. You have great extracurriculars and an awesome hook. Your test scores are good and GPA is pretty good as well.

The only problem is the Act score of 29. That is what I have as well. UF doesn’t mix and match best subscores which is stupid. All the other colleges do. My high school is very competitive, last year they sent 29 kids to UF, almost everyone had over a 29. Everything else on your resume looks pretty good. You have alot of diversity which is important.

looks good. Yeah, as mentioned above, the only thing that could hold you back is your ACT and/or your UW GPA, but by taking a rigorous course load, it shows you are willing to put the effort. But I would say that your extracurriculars are good, especially in that you speak three languages… And you have a nice amount of athletics, which again shows your involvement. The smartest people aren’t always the ones who revolutionize the world or the community in which you live. You just need to be smart enough (as some book said that I can’t remember the title to…), which you definitely are. Good luck!

nineknives, that was a very warm and inspiring response, i really appreciate it! And MetalMeatwad, a 29 is a decent score, but i think they mean that it won’t be the aspect that gets me in. If for example i had gotten a 35, it would get me in no matter what.

Well you do have great stats, and just to say, a 29 is a pretty great score, i agree with metalmeatwad. See for summer admission req you need a 24, and for fall a 28 on the ACT. But what most people overlook is that it’s not based only on scores and your gpa.Its your EC’s which you have an awesome amount of:) and your essay, and other things, im guessing. But remember UF is random on thier admission decisions. If you look at last years admission decision thread you could see what i mean:) I wish you luck though! And the decision is in 4 days:)

But yep these are the req. that florida colleges use. It changes every year or few years. But this year’s applicant were lucky, UF lowered thier req:)

You just scared me to death. So awesome, looking a bit better for me now. I applied summer and have a 4.2. But damn, I barely missed summer average with my 23. I have a 24 superscored (I know they don’t take it) and I know I would have done better now. So if I applied Summer with 23 ACT, 1600 SAT (570M,550V,480W) and 4.2 UF GPA, good essay, and ecs I posted in my chance thread, do you think that averages out to Middle range combined?

I thought you were saying 24 was the cut off point/requirement for admission. Big relief.

Yep metalmeatwad, see i just made life alittle more easier lol. But i think you have a good chance of being accepted. Your gpa is awesome, and you meet the req. Last year the stats were higher and people got in to 20’s on the ACT, and 22’s and 23’s. so it all is up to the admission office. And i think they have who they are accepting. It makes me want to call and ask if they could just tell me lol. But good luck! :)
