Chance me please

I applied regular decision and very anxious to hear back. To start off, my GPA weighted is a 4.0 and unweighted it is a 3.6667. Because of my AP's this year my GPA should rise but it would be at the end of the year. The part that worries me is my SAT, I took it twice. The first time I scored a 1510, and the second 1540. I'm really not a good test taker but work hard. Here is a whole break down of my 4 years and grades.

Class rank on the transcript sent says 89 of 269, but I checked tonight it went down to 93.

For extracurriculars/clubs
Track (sophomore yr)
International club (senior)
Biology club (sophomore)
Chinese club (freshman/soph. yr)
I went on a P2P student ambassador trip to Australia right before high school started and mentioned that in my essay

Lastly, I live in the south (originally from NY) and the high school I am in now has a reputation of being one of the best public schools in the state, if that matters. I also am African american, I am not relying on that of course but people say it makes a tad difference.

Also, one thing I have been worrying about also is that on the NYU site, the application status says my Test scores are missing but my transcript and other things have been received. My school sends transcripts with the test scores included. I called and the woman who answered said I shouldn’t worry, but I still am because I haven’t received many notification e-mails so I have the feeling it isn’t complete.

What is your major?
Your hs math and science sequences were not rigorous so if you have applied for a STEM major that may have been to your disadvantage.
Yes, your SATs are quite low.
Did you take the ACT?

My major is Urban/City Design and science and math are my two least favorite subjects. Lastly, I did not take the ACT.

Please update when you get your decision.
Good luck.

I will thank you for your answers. So would you say chances are in really low, or in the middle? I know not high

Here’s the breakdown for the middle 50% of NYU students:
SAT Critical Reading: 610 - 710
SAT Math: 630 - 740
SAT Writing: 620 - 720
ACT Composite: 28 - 31

So based purely on the numbers, your scores are a bit low.

However, NYU and every other school looks at your teacher recs / essay / extracurriculars, so no one knows for sure. I’m also an African-American student applying at NYU, so I know how nerve-racking it is. (You can see my chance post here - http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/new-york-university/1086131-chance-me-if-you-will.html

Best of luck!

I think the one thing that might not be in your favor besides the SAT scores is your class rank. You’re about in the top 35%. The one thing in your favor though is that you seem to get really good grades in the classes that you are in. So…it might be a bit of a reach, but I don’t think you’re SAT will completely break your application. Hopefully, you wrote a good essay/got good recommendations because that could make a difference. Best of luck
