Bump…

bump please. Can I have some opinions?

To be honest, you probably won’t get in. Try studying for your SATs and bringing them up.

^^^ignore him/her. Probably knows absolutely nothing about the admissions process and thinks only 2300 SATs are go enough for every college. Your score is right around average for GTown as is. Improving them would help of course. Good grades, good schedule, athletics, I’d say your chances are good. SAT II is also important considering they are required.

FYI. My daughter had a 4.3. 2290 sat. All 4and 5s on AP
She got the waitlist. So you never know. She applied RD.

I totally agree with FutureVP. Ignore collegej2 (probably just a ■■■■■) and just work on the SAT twos and maybe improve ur SAT score. Your in the ballpark stat and ec wise, definitely

wow, you are definately an excellent applicant… georgetown wants someone who is doing more than the robotic student: service, making a change in the community… ur SATs are very good…anything more would just help you a little bit more but you should work on community service and volunteer work, make sure you indicate to the committee that you are a good future hoya because there are thousands (19500 in 2011) of applicants with exceptional gpas n SAT scores…the 17% that are accepted have something more than that. good luck and dont doubt urself through this process because you certainly are a good applicant :)

Bump… I want some more opinions on this. I took the SAT again in June and I’m confident that I only got one math question wrong, which would make a 790, probably. How would my chances be with the same stats, except a 1470 instead of a 1380? Also, I got my SAT II scores back and they… suck. 690 in chemistry and 710 in math. Oh… and my weighted GPA is a 3.8, not a 3.9. I know this is a reach school, but I want an opinion of what my chances are like.

EDIT: I’ll be applying to the school of business

bump…

Bump? I would really like some opinions.

Your SAT and GPA is fantastic, but your extra-curricular activities are kinda lame. Try volunteering at Non-Profit you are interested in so you can get business experience. Although Your Essay is the most important part of college admission.

Bump with new SAT: 720 CR, 780 Math. 1500 two-part score

Bump 10char

New SAT helps a lot. You will be right in the thick of it. Nail your THREE Subject Matter tests and write a wonderful essay.

glido… will a 700 in World, 710 in Math II, and 690 in Chemistry hurt my chances?

bump bump bump

Bump this up and disregard my post @ 11:22

Bump please! New info, need new opinions! Gtown is my dream school!

What are my chances for the MSB school at Georgetown? I’m a rising senior white male in the 180-200k income bracket.

91 unweighted/96 weighted GPA (downward trend)
2240 SAT, 720 CR and 780 Math
Class ranking: top 5-7%
SAT II: World History- 700, Chemistry- 690, Math II- 710

AP classes: 10th grade- AP World=5
11th grade- AP English= 4, AP Chemistry= 5, AP US History= 4
12th grade- AP Government, AP Calculus, AP Literature, AP Physics

Sports: Varsity Volleyball 10th 11th 12th (captain 12th)
Varsity Swimming 9th 10th 11th 12th
Varsity Track & Field 10th 11th 12th
Club volleyball team 9th 10th 11th 12th (At least two practices a week plus a lot of weekend-long tournaments all over the country)

Other EC:
History Club member 11th 12th
NHS probate 11th, member 12th
Various service events all years (not a lot, but a decent amount)
Homework club (I go to the middle school and help kids with their homework)

My teacher recommendations probably won’t be too great, as I usually don’t build great relationships with my teachers.

I think that this year is going to be particularly difficult for MSB admissions.
Brand New Facility + New Dean from Harvard Business School + 63% percent yield rate at MSB for 2011 = Challenging Times for 2012 Applicants

Your SAT scores are well in line for MSB. Your SATII are also pretty good. From what you posted, I think your lack of unique business related/leadership EC’s will be your Achilles heel. When I read your EC’s I see dedication to athletics and possibly team building experience from all your years participating in team sports but I don’t see anything that shows a demonstrated interest in business, finance, etc. at all. Your 1st (and only?) official experience with leadership will be this year as captain of the volleyball team. Although not necessary, I was a little surprised to not see classes like APMicro/Macro, APStats, that are usual indicators of an interest in business.

Work hard on your essays to show the ADCOM what you can bring to the table & why Georgetown is the best fit for you to fulfill your academic pursuits in the business world. Good luck!
