What are my chances for the MSB school at Georgetown and for Notre Dame? I'm a Junior white male.

Various service events all years (not a lot, but a decent amount)

I’d say try to get your SAT up and do some extra community service over the summer.

bump. Someone chance?

Looks like a reach for you at this point. Get straight A’s from here on out, ace your AP’s, add at least 100 points to SATs and you’ll be in contention, but not guaranteed.

Look at the stats of kids who got rejected or wait-listed this past week. Many are extremely talented.

Your SAT definitely needs to go up. You’d want your CR+M scores to definitely break 1440 for a decent shot.

Beyond that, you’re the typical ND applicant—athletically inclined, strong grades, etcetera etcetera. You need to think to yourself, “What can I do to stand out?” Could you perhaps branch out into different activities? I echo riley727; more community service would be helpful. But still, you need something solid that makes you stand out from the crowd…

In any case, my advice beyond that is to make sure, when the time comes, to SELL SELL SELL your love of ND—even if you don’t love the school—in the essays to admissions. ND’s admissions committee is quite serious about staying true to the school’s mission, and you need to prove somehow that you are the type of person to carry this mission forward.

As for Georgetown, I can’t comment.

ugh… this is depressing. How about Boston College and Villanova?

EDIT: Also, what if I got my CR to 720 and my Math to 730? This is what I usually get on the practice tests. Guess I choked for the real deal.

As for Boston College, I’d say you have a decent shot. Not a great one, but if you write your essays right you could probably make it in.

If you got your CR to 720 and M to 730, that would put you at 1450, which is good. This year’s average for admission was 1443 or something like that, so it would put you right in the middle. For what it’s worth, my CR+M score this year was 1440, and I made it in.

bump with 720 CR, 780 Math, and 740 Writing. Also, my weighted GPA is around 96, with my unweighted around 91. Steady downward trend in GPA

This is the only problem, if it’s significant. If it’s minor, then you should be okay.
