I know my SATs are on par and my ECs are strong, but my GPA is low and race and location arent going for me. I’m not sure if my GPA is going to kill my chances too much. I thank everyone in advance for posting truthful responses and not putting idiotic responses to mess with me.

How big is your high school, and what is your rank?

Its a fairly large school, about 1600 kids, and i dont know my rank. My schooll doesn’t tell us ranks or our gpa on a 4.0 scale

A girl last year from my HS got into Brandeis and was barely in the top 10%—so she’d have maybe slightly lower than your GPA unweighted, in a senior class of 700-800 (4000 person school). She had race and ECs going for her though, maybe location too (Texas). I’d say write strong essays and maybe retake your SAT to see if you can get above par. Basically, emphasize why you want to go to Brandeis and you should be fine. :)

I would try and demonstrate interest in your essays and possibly by visiting and interviewing if that’s a possibility. If you put together a good application, I would say you have a good shot.

Yes! - I agree with Autumncomet and collegecc4:

• show interest: call them with a question (especially one that isn’t obviously answered online), or to request brochures, and try to visit at least once;

• really polish your essay(s) - make sure your personality comes through, have an adult that you share rapport with proofread/vet the essay(s);

• let admissions know why you love Brandeis - any admissions office is positively inclined toward a student who they think really will attend if admitted.

• and yes, if the SAT can rise, that is always helpful.
