Anyone please?

Any takers?

:) Any takers?

Well I don’t have experience with this (I’m a junior applying to college in the fall too…)

But I’d say that you’re probably a match, at least a high match/low reach

Your scores are pretty solid, and so is your GPA, which means they’ll at least consider you

Then looking at the extracurriculars, you’re involved, that shows
And then you add on Early Decision to Columbia AND a legacy

I don’t think you can say ANY Ivy League school is your safety school, but I’d say you got a pretty good shot at it.

On Harvard, I’m pretty pessimistic about Harvard because 2 years ago they admitted like 1 kid from my state (Oregon)

Stanford, I heard from some friends that East Coast people get into Stanford a lot easier than West Coast people, so… I’d say high match/low reach

I’d say Cornell’s a match

Princeton’s a match

Not sure about Dartmouth/Duke/NYU, haven’t heard any stories/done much studying

UChicago, I’d lean towards safety, but it’s still a match

PS if anyone disagrees with me, please do. I am by no means the definitive expert on this (far from it)

^OP’s raw scores are definitely in the median range for schools such as Stanford, and Princeton. However, everything besides the OP’s objective numbers are greatly sub-par for these top-notch schools. I would count these Ivies as reaches.

^I’m guessing you don’t know the selectivity of UChicago?

With your extracurriculars being what they are, really the only thing saving you is your legacy at Columbia for ED. Your scores are fine; I wouldn’t worry about those. I believe you’d be a High Match/Low Reach.

Columbia-reach
Harvard-reach
Yale-reach
Stanford-reach
Cornell-match/safety
Princeton- low reach
Dartmouth-low reach
Duke-match
NYU-safety
UChicago-high match( put a huge emphasis on essay )

its really hard to predict your chances, at Ivy Leagues and Stanford because there SO unpredicatable. You seem like a really good canidate, so it I think you have a fair chance. I have also noticed that you are applying to all of the Ivy league schools( except for Penn and Brown ). Actually all of your schools, I very competitive top tier schools. Do you have any public safties that your very confident to get into? I dont know what your trying to major in, but have you considered University of Maryland? Rutgers? UVA? Georgia Tech? University of Washington?

It’s important to note that Duke is a lot more rigorous in its admissions process than many think. In fact, individuals who get accepted into Ivy League schools don’t necessarily get accepted by Duke.

And it’s also important to note that while Cornell may be the Ivy with the highest acceptance rates of all 8, there’s still never a guarantee in admission. It would be more sane to list Cornell as a low-reach instead of a safety.

Um, unfortunately I don’t know how to edit posts… so here’s an updated idea of my resume:

Academics:

Also, yes. I applied to Rutgers, UVA, and BC.

Your scores across the board are strong as is your resume. Geographically you have a lot of competition as many applicants are from NJ. However, I think you will get accepted to Columbia. Good luck!!!

Columbia typically accepts the following scores and percentages:

Early decision acceptance rate: 20%

Overall acceptance rate: 7% (only 3% of Regular Admission applicants are accepted)

Top 10% of high school class: 97%

SAT score (25/75 percentile): 2100-2330

ACT score (25/75 percentile): 31-34

^Actually, 98% were in the top 10%, the 25/75% for the SAT was 2150-2320, and the 25/75% for the ACT was 32-35.

I think my supplements were pretty strong. I applied as an English major and I was very passionate. My “Why Columbia?” essay was pretty unique, but risky. Talked about how my experiences interning/visiting my sister there made it a familiar sight for sore eyes.

meow meow meow
