I'm a Hispanic male from a public high school in California. I am in the top 10% of my class, with a 3.7 UW, 3.8 W GPA. I have taken quite a few honors classes and will take an AP or two Senior year. I got an 1840 on the SAT (620 CR, 560 M, 660 W). I know the math score is average, which sucks because math is my strongest subject in school but for some reason I haven't been able to do well on the SAT math. I'll be taking the ACT and SAT next fall.
Here are my EC's:
-Varsity tennis 3 years
-Volunteered 2 summers at a tennis and tutoring program at Stanford
(then Business related ec's, which could help because I am interested in a business major)
-In the summer I work full time (then part time during school) at a bakery where I make deliveries, but most importantly I manage their marketing strategy, such as the internet and spreading awareness of the bakery.
-A friend and I started our own kids sports camp hosted at one of our houses, 2 weeks every summer for the past 4 years. We made flyers, which attracted a lot of business, and we make about $2000 each summer.

sdsu does not consider EC’s, but you definitely should get in

Sdsu does consider extra curricular activities otherwise they wouldn’t have that part in the application process. you’ll most likely get in.

I would think you’d get in since you’re within the avg of who got in this year but try and get math sat score higher since it will be harder to get in next year. And, I think SDSU only considers math and english so if you don’t count your writing portion, your score is 1180

FYI, here’s stats on who got in SDSU from the 2011 grads:

“SDSU received nearly 60,000 undergraduate applications for approximately 6,174 undergraduate enrollment slots for fall 2011. The newly admitted incoming freshmen have an average high school GPA of 3.78 and an average SAT score of 1148, the same record-setting academic credentials as last years incoming freshman class.”

Don’t sweat it your in for sure. Are you from San Diego? Because I believe that students from schools in the service area get an extra advantage. At least it used to be like that. You may even get in to the honors program at state I got in to the program and my stats were similar to yours but I also had tons of leadership. Good Luck:)
