Thanks alot guys!!! Good luck to everyone!!

Thanks alot! I really hope I get in…I’m definitely not retaking the SAT, but I hope that with an improved ACT score I’ll be a good shot in. I’m also looking at Vandy, USF Honors, and UMiami, but preferably UF

Without sounding like a total looser, I have a question if you dont mind answering;
How is it possibly to be valedictorian & manage of GPA of 4.7174
and only score an 1800 on your SAT and a 27 on your ACTs ?
In my humble opinion, this is a perfect example of grade inflation !

First, I apologize for not making my point clearer but grade inflation appears to be running rampant at The University Of Florida !
I will never fully comprehend how a prospective freshman applicant can honestly submit a 4.7 GPA high school average and then score marginally on an attitude test that is uniformly offered to all incoming freshman applicants.
I currently attend a private Catholic preparatory school that doesnt offer specific AP classes, thus my individual GPA will never accurately match those here who attended public high school and with a few AP classes, these public high school students can dramatically increase or rather inflate their GPA.
Although my GPA is only a 3.62, still I scored a 33 on my ACT and a 2310 on my SATs, I probably wont make it into UF solely based on my GPA, which I think really sucks ! I feel better now ! Thanks

you didn’t explain the relationship between the ACT and their high school GPA. so, you really didn’t clarify your point at all. why cant you get a high GPA and low test scores? do you think is impossible to have the reverse? after all, according to you, people with a 1800 on the SAT should probably have a GPA of what, like a 3.0, and if its higher, theres ‘grade inflation’? in the opposite case, it must be ‘deflation’?

moreover, whats the point of taking the SAT if your GPA is somehow supposed to correlate with test scores?

you’re getting caught up on something that doesn’t even exist. if you’re seriously trying to compare your private school GPA with their weighted district GPA (and then getting worked up about it), you’re just ignorant and thats all there is to it. its pointless. it cant be done. they are likely two totally different scales.

@hollis731 - I’d say you’re a solid candidate, and have known others with very similar stats who got in. Don’t underestimate the essay, it’s a pretty important factor.

@cnmpsyd - ever heard of working hard? It works wonders for your GPA, and it has nothing to do with inflation! Chances are if you get denied from UF it will have nothing to do with scores and everything to do with the fact that you’re an arrogant, elitist fool.

Well, hollis731 welcome to gator nation. You should apply to more prestigious universities. Your test scores are great in my eyes, but for scholarship purposes you should get Crack The ACT/SAT to improve your scores.

Thanks alot for the comments guys, you’ve really pushed me to do better on my test scores, I’ve been doing ACT diagnostics this summer and I’ve been getting 28-30’s, really excited at applying! You guys are great motivators!
