Chance me please :)

Hi everyone! I just got back from visiting Swat and I absolutely loved it....The admissions did an incredible job with their presentation. I met the coach of one of the sports I play in and got to participate in clinic where I did very well. I met some of the players from the team and they were bright, down to earth and very friendly. The campus is to die for in a very poetic way. I love the schools philosophy and their overall desire to give back to community and the world. I can very much see myself at this school.
Your standardized testing will hurt, but it won’t break your application. Make sure that you spend a lot of time on your essays. Think them over, rewrite them again and again - make sure that they convey your interest and abilities.
Get in touch with coaches ASAP, as well - they don’t have a tremendous say in admissions, but their support will always be of some help.

Thank you Apollue… I have been in contact with one of the coaches and actually attended a clinic they were hosting and was told by the coach that he would recommend me to admissions… I interviewed with that coach as well and it went very well. I feel like I would be a contributing member on their team and am still waiting to hear from the other coach. I would be a contributing member on that team as well. I plan on joining other clubs too i/e community service, etc…

I wish my test scores were higher too. I have looked at their medium range 25%-75% and I am at the bottom of the medium range.

I love this school and really hope I get in…

Since you got the “nod of approval” and the coach will “recommend [you] to admissions,” it is clear that he wants you on the team. You also said that you “interviewed” with the coach. If the coach does admissions interviews, he is in a better position than any of us to assess your chances. But even if not, he stilll knows his track record with admissions. If you have not done so, you could ask him about the recent history. How many applicants does he recommend each year and how many are accepted? Does he rank-order the applicants?

The New York Times did a series of articles about D3 recruiting a few years ago. The focus was on Haverford, but they mention Swarthmore as well.
