Chance me, please.

Hi,
I am going to be a senior in High School next year.
What are my chances for the University of Washington, Michigan, UC Berkely (probably a long shot), USC, and UCLA. What other schools do you think would be good as well?
I have a 3.82 GPA (Ya, I know it is low. I got a 3.5 first semester freshman year because my parents got divorced. I know it is no excuse).
I got a 2100 on my SAT and I'm going to retake it and plan on getting about a 2200 or more.
I got a 34 on the ACT.
I got 3.6ish freshman year
I got 3.9 Sophomore year
I got 4.0 Junior year (with 2 AP Classes -- Physics and US History)
I am taking 3 AP Classes next year (Literature, Calc., Bio).
I got a job at 14 (between freshman and sophomore year) and still have it.
I created my own sno-kone business and went around to events selling sno-kones. Made big bucks! the most I made was $1000 in 6 hours. (that isn't my stated up above)
I was in top band at school all 4 years
I was in Jazz 1 all four years (Highest jazz band and I was the only freshman in the whole band freshman year).
Marching band 4 years
Pit Orchestra 3 years for my school play
German club
National Junior Honors Society
Brown Belt in Tae Kwon Do (9th belt and 1 away from black belt).
Super kid in Newspaper (big newspaper that covers a lot of people and many people apply for super kid each month).
Tutored math
I got a few outstanding solo awards in 8th grade for jazz band (I don't know if they care because it was in 8th grade).
I was the only 7th grader in 8th grade Jazz band (again, I don't know if they care).
120-135 hours of community service by the time I apply
There is probably some more that I am missing
Tell me what you think!
I am from Washington state.
Thanks!

I JUST got my 2nd SAT scores and I got a 2210

I think you ahve solid chances at UW, UCB,UCLA, USC and Michigan.

What is your intended major? I also think your have solid chances at ALL these schools on your list just, as 20more stated. I’d say Cal is a high match and NOT that much of a long shot as you may think. Your course rigor may come into play but you will be a competitive applicant at all the schools on your list.

I think your in-state school is probably your best option financially since Michigan, Cal, and UCLA are expensive publics for OOS applicants. USC is a great school but I wouldn’t expect a lot of merit-based aid there, unless you are a National Merit Award recipient. You might even want to take a shot at a reach school like a Duke, a Rice, and/or a Northwestern.

You have good chances at all of them except UCLA and Cal considering they really only care about numbers. Of the two, I’d say that UCLA is more doable.

My intended major in Aerospace Engineering. I’m not 100% sure that is what I’m going to do, but probably 90% sure. I know I want to be an engineer of some sort.

I am hesitant about UW because they have such an overcrowding problem, they are putting 15 kids in any open room they can find. If I went there, I would most likely rent my own studio apartment on campus.

Which I wouldn’t mind. I don’t even know why I’m telling you this because you probably don’t care. hahaha

UW is a very good school for your intended major. If I were in your shoes or those of your parents (since I’m also a parent), that’s where I’d want you to go unless you got some FA at a private school like USC or one of the other schools I mentioned. Going to UCLA is definitely not much of an upgrade, if any, for Engineering and Cal is not worth the differential in cost compared to UW (my son is an Engineering major at Cal but ONLY because we are CA residents).

So UW would be the best option for me?

^Absolutely UW is a great option. In addition to USC, would also apply to some other privates as I mentioned in post #4 such as Duke, Rice, and/or Northwestern.
