I assume you’re from California? My advice is to submit an SAT/ACT…it can only help.
Remember ED is binding, so make sure this is your top choice. You could be however waived into the next rounds. Your grades look very good, & so does your volunteer work.

I would submit my SAT/ACT buts its not up to par to Bowdoin’s average and i think it would hurt instead of help but thanks! :)

Not true that submitting SAT/ACT “can only help.” If you are significantly below the 25%, then I don’t see much reason in submitting. They will basically ignore it if you don’t submit; if you do submit and it’s bad then it can count against you.

Good enough GPA and good ECs. Still would consider it a reach for you though. Make sure your essay does not come off as cliche.

thanks notanengineer! It is a hard topic to write about, but since i’ve dedicated 2 of my summers to this sleepaway camp I think it’ll represent more of me. the other essay i could write about is how my parents immigrated to the US from vietnam and about their impact and values they have instilled onto me, but that too is kinda played out and i dont think it would work too much to my favor.

How you handle a topic is a bit more important than the topic itself. There are very few topics that would not be considered “cliche” (and I think both of your fall into a very common strain - but that’s not necessarily a bad thing). Just make sure you are handling them uniquely and you are showing rather than telling.

yeah totally notanengineer. i’ll try! haha thanks for the advice :)
