<p>17 years old, Asian male</p>

<p>Gpa-3.6x and 4.0x out of 5 weighted</p>

<p>Act-30 composite, 10 on writing. Planning to retake, hoping for a 32/10+</p>

<p>Full ib diploma candidate</p>

<p>Most challenging courses all 4 years, but GPA did go down a bit when ib diploma coursework began.</p>

<p>Extra curriculars
-nhs both possible years
-4 yrs swimming, 3 yrs varsity
-4 yrs track, 3 yrs varsity
-3 yrs cross country
-Mcfyp committee member : one of 15 selected to organize a very large youth grantmakers conference, 3 year term
-started a committee to bring back recycling to our new school buildings (this JUST started)
-piano 10+ years
-volunteer well over 250 hrs, maybe even 300 hrs, with very personal relationships and committment to quite a few groups (youth united way, pride in community appearance, playing piano at nursing homes, habitat for humanity, and a few more)</p>

<p>decent teacher rec, very solid counselor rec</p>

<p>above average to good/great paper</p>

<p>The 3.6 GPA affects your chances. Retaking the ACT probably won’t help. The 30 is good enough. The question is whether a 3.6 at your high school with the rigor of your IB course work is good enough to get in. If you are in-state, there should be a history of what U-M takes from your high school. Your high school guidance counselor may have a better sense of this than posters on college confidential.</p>
