I’m curious…what school in N.Va do you go to? I live there too and I can help with W&M. A rep came to my school and she said that they don’t look @ GPA. They look for class rank and how well you are doing compared tou your peers. Your scores are great. Math kind of sticks out though. For Uva your scores are good too. My friend got in with about an 1800. Your GPA is a little low. As long as your class rank is solid, you should be fine.

Oh you should list more EC’s if any.

Langley HS. Unfortunately, the school doesnt release class rank.

Oh nice. I love your school. I see a lot of people from there during Model UN conferences. I don’t know how exactly they handle class rank if you don’t have one, but maybe they would just go off of your counselor recommendation.

If you chance me, I’ll chance you back!!!

Which UT school are you looking at?
You’d have a great shot for scholarships at UTD, and UT Austin certainly is a good chance.

Cheers~

University of Texas at Austin. Thanks!

Great SAT scores, with the exception of math. Good ECs. I’d say you have a nice shot at getting into UT: Austin, W&M and UVA. I’m not as familiar with your other schools, but I’d say you have a good shot with them as well!

Nice ECs. From what I know about these schools, I’d say you’re in at UVA, UT, Boston University. I think if you can raise your math SAT score, Michigan is definetly within reach as well. Don’t know much about the others.

extra large bump

le bumpppp

bumpppppppp

chances, please? :(

William and Mary, UVA, Villanova, and Michigan are all reaches. Michigan especially for OOS. BU and Texas are probably both slight reaches as well. Don’t know enough about Colgate and Bucknell to comment. If your W GPA is 3.4, then your UW GPA has to be at best a 3.2. That’s not good enough. A bunch of people on this site call you a match if they know one person who lucked into a school with below average stats that are similar to you. That does not make you a match. Most people with those stats did not get admitted. You’re a match if your stats are on par with the average admitted stats in every single way. You have one significant weakness without another significant strength, you become a reach. Your GPA is very weak, your test scores are simply solid and your ECs are only solid as well. Also regarding your test scores, you did well on the most useless section. CR is often times disregarded by colleges, and the other two sections you did not perform very well in. I don’t really think your targets are realistic. You’re reaching almost everywhere. Also hurting you for UVA is that NoVa applicants are held to a higher standard than the rest of the state. You need more safeties. I’m not trying to be a jerk by being so negative. I want to bring you back to reality because high school seniors often times overestimate their own changes, as well as those of their peers. I’m trying to be honest with you and make you feel the slight crash now as opposed to the huge crash you get when you find out after months of other people building you up with false hope and reality hitting you harder. It’s much harsher, trust me I know. It’s better to feel a little bad now and then if by chance one of your reach schools does accept you, you’ll feel just as excited.

Also, I know Michigan isn’t really your top choice but I just have to make a comment about it. Seriously, the median 50th percentile for GPAs in Michigan acceptees is 3.67 to 3.90, and the median ACT is 28-32, SAT is 1330 to 1440 (out of 1600). How would having a 3.4 make you a match at all? I can’t understand the logic. A relatively high acceptance rate with those kind of scores only mean that the pool of applicants is fairly strong and that the freshman class is big. Sure 15,000 get accepted but 25,000 also get rejected.

excuse me, if i remember correctly this was a forum where others could judge my ‘chances’ of being admitted to certain colleges. was i presumptuously stating that i deserve to be accepted into the schools listed? no. i was simply wondering if any of these reach schools are more likely to accept a lower gpa. but thanks for the unnecessary negativity.

Look your taking this the wrong way. I never assumed your were “presumptuously” stating you were deserving to be accepted to the schools listed. “if i remember correctly this was a forum where others could judge my ‘chances’ of being admitted to certain colleges”. I judged your chances and from my experience with those schools, they are not good. Also, did you ever state you were “simply wondering if any of these reach schools are more likely to accept a lower gpa”? I don’t think so, so why would I assume that’s why you were asking. I was referring to the people who said you had a good chance below when I said those comments about Michigan. I’m just telling you my opinion and if you really hate it, I’m sorry but you have a lot of growing up to do. I’m already set at the school I want to be at and I don’t have any reason to insult or offend you. I’m trying to help you and the truth hurts sometimes. You have to understand that people giving you false hope are not helpful. There is a difference between constructive criticism and insults.

Wait, how is CR the most useless section? I think you mean writing. CR and math are included in the 1600 score, not writing. Also, i enjoy the rising levels of condescension.
