I think it is definitely possible for you to get the schools on your list that I’m familiar with, particularly all of the UC’s. UCSB might be a slight reach, and NYU is probably as well.

I was in California last year, near Santa Barbara, and for some reason the people I was with made UCSB seem like a very difficult school to get into. After looking it up for myself just now, I realize that their perception of it was a little off. Sorry about that.

I think you’re a bit lacking in ECs, but if you can find a couple more clubs that interest you and commit to them, that’d be a positive. Your course rigor is a little low, but you’re definitely taking full advantage of senior year. Your SAT scores are fine, I don’t know if you’ll get your SAT II scores in time but if you can take them, do so. You can’t change your GPA, so work with what you have and sell yourself by getting involved more in ECs.

I think a key component will be your essays. Go hard and do your best. Don’t be afraid to ask for help from good teachers (as in, they know their stuff).

If you have solid essays and you work hard on finding leadership in ECs and getting involved, I think you have a good shot for any of them.

me and my friend have actually been planning to start a cancer awareness club (we’ve done a lot of volunteer work for relay for life) but we feel it’s too late now. my essays are pretty good though. i showed them to my english teachers and they really liked them!

what does everyone else think? which ones do you think would be safeties or reaches?
