Dear anp129 : Rather than concentrating on your board scores, let’s raise some areas that you might want to consider in your application in more detail. First, your “all advanced/honors” course work does not provide sufficient definition to evaluate your curriculum and GPA in that context. Are your courses at the AP/IB level and do you have AP/IB test scores that back a view of your mastery of the material?

Second, your extra curriculars show dedication which is a solid attribute, but does not address the leadership traits that one might normally see from lifelong participation in some of these disciplines. Define your volunteer service and what impact it had on the community. How should that contribution be viewed by a Boston College reader? In other words, why did it matter at the time and why should reading about that line element matter now? Think about that with every line in your application - why does that piece of content help paint a picture about you as an applicant?

Third, given the strength of your “numbers”, your essay topic is perhaps the one area where you can seal the deal on admission. What have you chosen to discuss and why does that topic illustrate why you make the Boston College campus fabric a better place? Why are you someone interesting that other freshman, upper classmen, and faculty would want to know? Give some thought to your passions and how it connects to the University.

In closing, your profile looks like a strong player for admissions. Give some thought to the essay questions we have mentioned in order to help your essay close any doubts in the reader’s mind. Good luck.
