What College at Cornell? What do you plan on studying?

Are you a good enough athlete to compete at Cornell.

Overall – GPA is good. Rank is a bit low.
ECs seem ok.

The CR score is a bit low. Good news – Cornell doesn’t even look at the SAT-W, so that score won’t bring you down. Your total 1390 is about average for Cornell.

End of the day – it’s worth applying. However, with the acceptance rate <20% you’re not a lock.

since the regular decision pool is pretty big and obviously difficult to stand out amongst, i have to be honest in saying that your sat scores are bringing down your chances. i know it’s the end of november, and i have no clue when they’re being given next, but my advice is to take the ACT once just on a whim. you seem like a good student and you never know, you might just kill it and get an awesome score. that’s what happened to me, and it was like an effortless blessing. good luck!

Yeah, I think your SAT scores are too low, and you don’t really have strong enough hooks to make up for it. I feel like there are similar applicants, just with better SAT scores. But it’s always worth a shot, maybe you’re just what they need.

1390 SAT is not too low, but on the “low average” side. Class rank is low average also but may be forgiven because of the quaility of your school. GPA, course rigor look good, EC’s are OK, but don’t really exhibit leadership. I’d say that with very good essays & letters of rec. your chances are still below average, but not in the “slim chance” category.
