Chance Me, Please.

3.45 GPA UW, 3.9 W
Haven't taken the SAT's yet, though I just took a practice test today (without much prep) and scored a 1770.
I've taken mostly Honors and AP classes.
EC's:
Drum Major for Marching Band, going to be the head next year as well
Varsity Marching Band for (going to be) 4 years
Member of various clubs; newspaper, Interact, FBLA
First chair flute, concert band
Play other various instruments
Member of the high school band for 4 years, overall been in band for 8 years
Volunteer at my temple once a week
Various recreational sports
Summer job every year

I'm going to apply early in the summer (July, August-ish), and send in an essay and teacher recommendations as well.

You probably have a good chance. I’m just basing that off myself though; I have a 3.9 weighted GPA (No idea what my unweighted is), 2020 SAT and 31 ACT, no worthwhile ECs except maybe being in the Tech Crew at my school for half a year, and I took 3 AP classes this year (senior). I wrote an essay that I felt was pretty good, I’d assume my recommendations were good but I never read them. I got my acceptance letter a week after they received my transcript.

So keep your GPA up this year and most of Senior year, and work at the SATs and ACTs (I found ACT to be much easier personally), and I’d imagine you shouldn’t have much trouble getting in.

Like I said though, just comparing to myself
Edit: Btw, I got into the School for Arts and Sciences with Comp Sci as a major. Might be more or less difficult to get into other majors / schools, idk.

I am planning to pursue a Comp Sci major in the School of Arts & Sciences as well. Would you happen to know how competitive CS is at Pitt?

If you could chance me, that would be great.
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-pittsburgh/1243900-please-chance-me.html

I don’t really know how competitive it is at Pitt, all I know is its probably not nearly as competitive as anything med-related, since that seems to be the biggest field there. I haven’t seen Pitt ranked absurdly high on any Comp Sci ranking charts (Those positions are mostly dominated by schools like MIT, Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, and Illinois). So I’d assume its not too horribly competitive.

And you seem like you have a good chance too. Again I’m just basing that off me and (to some extent) the graphs Naviance gives me (its a service my school has that graphs whose been accepted, denied, and deferred, and places them based on their GPA and SAT or ACT scores. Also has average GPAs, SATs, etc of people accepted, as well as some other information like Tuition and percent accepted, and links to these forums). So take what I say with a grain of salt xD

And don’t worry too much about how long it takes them to reply to your admission. My one friend applied early (I think like, September or October) and didn’t get a reply until around Mid November I think. Probably off on my months, but it took significantly longer for her to get a reply despite her applying much earlier than I did (I applied around the 20th of November). So it definitely varies.

Good luck, hope you get in!
