Can you guys please chance me for CAS n potentially stern??

I’ve been constantly getting b+/ A- in my ib classes ( junior n senior year), however, I didn’t do so well my freshmen year, I think got a 3.55 uw.

The international thing will definitely help you. In an effort to increase their international student percentage (and it’s worked, I think since NYU has put in the effort the percentage has raised to maybe 3% at the highest to 9% (the statistic I looked at said 6% but I’ve heard from int. students 9% and I’ve had four international suite mates by chance so take that as however you please)) NYU now accepts many international students even if they don’t necessarily meet all of their criteria.

To me, your background looks pretty good! I don’t like to chance because I don’t want to give false hope to anyone, but as an international student you have the advantage of getting into many of the U.S.'s most competitive universities.

To be honest I think Stern is a bit of a reach for you, seeing the stats of the people who were accepted/rejected in the ED pool. Your predicted IB marks are pretty good but your ECs are rather generic. And the unfortunate truth is that it is extremely difficult to get into Stern being an Asian male with good numbers and not so great extracurriculars. But I’d say if you write your essays well you should have a pretty decent chance at CAS though. =]

Thanks, I just submitted my app for rd cas! So nervous haha :p

@banterings I think the highlight of my ecs is me independently organizing a trip up to northern Thailand to stay at a rural school for 3 weeks. just out of curiously, do college admins view that as something special or just pretty generic?

I would say that’s a pretty interesting achievement. Was that only once or have you organized multiple trips? Of course, if it is a reoccurring activity, it would be a lot more beneficial. But I think that’s a lot less generic than MUN, volunteering, and basketball. If you identified and emphasized how the experience changed you or your perspective on things, I think you have a good chance. Good luck!~ c:
