I’m not too sure on whether I should apply as Biology or Biochemistry.

I can’t say much in regards to your chances, but you don’t “apply as __” to Amherst. There is a spot to list possible academic interests on the Common App, but that is only for institutional research purposes.

Youre score are a bit on the lower side compared to other applicants, but I think everyone has a chance at acceptance. It’s all about that X-factor. Make sure your essays are flawless and that your personality comes across well and you have a good shot! Look at me, <2000 SAT I’s and never above a 3 on any AP exam (I’ve taken 7 AP’s) but I wrote 2 pretty good essays and had good grades and was accepted ED! It all depends on whether the admissions panel likes you or not based on your app overall. Best of luck!

It really depends on what they’re looking for like wilkins012 said. I was rejected EDI with a 4.44 GPA, a 31 ACT and 5’s on the 2 AP exams I have taken. They are looking for an eclectic student body, so if you have something special, try to showcase it. best of luck!

I think you have a good chance.
