Chance me please!

Hey -- I'm a high school senior
3.61 unweighted GPA, 4 weighted GPA (but with 18 combined AP and honors level courses (4 AP) -- very strenuous schedule), dual curriculum between Judaic studies and General Studies which gets me out at 5:30 every day.

Math: 710
Critical Reading: 730
Writing: 680
(SuperScored SAT: 750 CR, 710 M, 720 WR)
APs: 5 AP European History
5 AP Language
3 AP Computer Science

SAT II's:
US History: 780
Math II: 730

Extra-Curriculars:

(Not very many extra-curriculars offered at my school -if you're not sports, then you're not much)

Your GPA is low and your SAT is just about average, so I’d say Dartmouth is a reach. Plus your EC’s aren’t extraordinary.

Unless you’re an URM, legacy, etc.

Pretty much agree with the post above. Your stats are decent but not super.

How would it help if I said I was a National Merit SemiFinalist?

Not at all. NMSF’s are a dime a dozen. Your GPA is exceedingly low and your SAT is average. Your EC’s are really lacking. I think you have no chance. Save your application fee.

Nice way to put it.

Hello maneatingbaby,
Your stats are those of someone who is very talented and has worked hard in high school. You are to be commended. Your numbers will get you into many a good school. Are your numbers good enough for admittance to Dartmouth? Well, based on their what I’ve seen in sources like college confidential and others, it could be a reach. As long as your college list includes a few places that are real “target” schools, you can certainly try for one or two “stretches”. Best of luck…

Thank you for your answers, everyone. Even those of you who said it rather…harshly, grateful people can be honest. I’m still applying to Dartmouth as a reach, as well as Cornell; I have UMD and WashU to serve as my target schools. Thank you all!

I’m sorry if I sounded harsh.
