Chance me please!

I doubt I can get in, over on the Dartmouth page they said I'm doubtful -- I applied here, Dartmouth, Brown, WashU, and Vanderbilt RD, and Michigan and Maryland EA
I'm a high school senior
3.61 unweighted GPA, 4 weighted GPA (but with 18 combined AP and honors level courses (4 AP) -- very strenuous schedule), dual curriculum between Judaic studies and General Studies which gets me out at 5:30 every day.
SAT score: 2120
Math: 710
Critical Reading: 730
Writing: 680
(SuperScored SAT: 750 CR, 710 M, 720 WR)
APs: 5 AP European History
5 AP Language
3 AP Computer Science

SAT II's:
US History: 780
Math II: 730

Extra-Curriculars:
2 years of Mock Trial
1 year of Student Government
1 year of baseball
2 years of play
(Not very many extra-curriculars offered at my school -if you're not sports, then you're not much)

Which school are you applying to? In general, I think Cornell is a reach school for you since your ECs and your test scores aren’t anything spectacular or anything. But all the schools you applied to, I would go for it.

I’m actually applying to Arts and Sciences, so my chances are even LOWER…
I’m basically applying to these places on a whim, to see if I can luck my way through the (decidedly arbitrary) college admissions process, and end up with a nice gig at a good school. University of Maryland is my fall-back, one that I’m reasonably sure I will get admitted to.
I happen to also be a National Merit SemiFinalist (maybe to be a finalist), so what does that do for me?

Your SATs are well within range. I think your GPA and ECs are a bit of a bummer though. 3.61 is probably not top 10% in your HS - keep in mind that about 90% of admitted students are in the top 10%. The ECs are on the weak side - my only suggestion at this point is to somehow connect them to yourself and your major on your resume. Take a paragraph to explain each one, and how you benefited from them. Write a sentence or two about how each one will make you a better student at Cornell. [I did - got in ED yay!]. Other than that, sit back and wait - you never know!

Good luck.

@maneatingbaby Actually you’re not applying to engineering, so I think you might have a good chance. Being a National Merit Semifinalist helps, but then again your ECs are somewhat lacking. Like I said though, I think you do have a chance, even if it may not be certain.
