I believe I had a good interview, good letters of recommendation and a strong essay, but that's obviously my opinion. The interviewer did say that I was incredibly knowledgeable about WashU and that I showed that I was really interested, which is good.

Numbers are good enough, but EC’s appear a bit lacking. Your description doesn’t show much depth/passion or anything that sticks out as unusual. You have a shot, especially if essays, recommendations, and interview went well, but I wouldn’t say you’re the most qualified applicant.

Really? I didn’t really go in depth for my ECs because my application primarily focuses on academics and athletics (I’ve met the recruiting standards for DI and DII schools). I didn’t really go into depth about athletics. I’m a varsity pole vaulter and the captain of my indoor track team. I’ve qualified for various high-ranking meets, and I’m currently one of the top vaulters in the state.

But as for my application not showing passion, I feel like that’s addressed in my common app essay, so I feel like I’m good on that category too.

Thanks though!

re-read that, I sound like a whiny little kid who tries to convince others to tell me what I want to hear. Wow, but I feel like it is information that I neglected to say that would strengthen my chances.

I guess it does appear that track/pole vaulting is your passion/depth in EC’s and that’s perfectly fine. It just wasn’t conveyed that well in your original post.

I hope op is wise enough to take what hockeydude said with less than a grain of salt. Like, a 1/100th of a grain of salt. And maybe 1/50th of a pepper corn.

On a side note, University Scholars Program in medicine is 100% meaningless. It’s not even worth applying, let alone having hopes for it.

Everything after your first two words.
“Very stellar”
"but for the University Scholars Program, Washu likes a lot of medical ECs. "
“You’re definitely in undergrad,”
“but the scholars program might be a denial just because of lack of ECs.”
"Chance back?
Chance for MIT and other schools "

Your entire post, except for the first three words is utter bs/nonsense/pointless/etc.

sorry my post wasn’t to your liking. you probably applied to the program, got rejected, and now youre bitter. all i said was that wustl likes when its med. program applicants demonstrate a passion for medicine (i.e through one’s ECs). so step off.

If you go back every year and read every year’s posts on the issue, you’d see that you need a high MCAT score and high GPA to get into the medical school.

a) This adds pressure, you need no more than 1B on average a semester.
b) If you got the scores you needed, you’d likely get into Wash U medical school anyway. As well as probably almost any school.
c) Guess how many people get into the program and actually go onto Wash U medical school through the program each year? Ranges between 0 and 1.

It’s an antiquated program that is left there to entice people.

I also have never had any desire to be a doctor, or health professional of any kind.

To be more specific about your post, your claiming the op would get in for sure is laughable. The best applicant has no more than a 50/50 shot. NO ONE has a sure thing.

And if you think some random high schooler “chancing you back” at schools he may know nothing about means anything is funny. If you need that self reassurance so badly, see a doctor.

your SAT reading score is pretty low too, but you definitely have a decent chance of getting in

but i agree with everyone about the scholars program. i mean, you have to maintain a 3.8 to definitely stay in it, and if you have a 3.8, you’ll have plenty of med school options available to you anyway
