ECs:
Pianist: I’ve won many international piano competitions and played at Carnegie Hall six times. I will be going back for a 7th this spring. Also, I wrote on my application ECs about how excited I was to perform in Vienna, Austria and Weimar, Germany this coming July and August.
Composer: As a composer, I’ve won several statewide, regional and national awards for my compositions. My most recent wins included a professional recording of a set of songs I wrote for the 10 anniversary of 9/11 and the opportunity to perform one of my piano works in Vienna.
Community Service: I’ve released 4 CDs internationally since I was 11 for various charity causes (e.g. 2004 Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, Haitian Earthquake) and I am an active participant in my local youth group (I have participated in all of the community service projects and got a lovely letter from a nun who works there). They gave me an award for my participation and my musical contributions (i represent them in various local benefits).

Essays: For my common application essay, I wrote an analysis of a favorite piano masterwork that I love. Since my essay was analytical, I included a more personal “Where I’m From” poem to give the college an idea of my “personality”. For my Bowdoin Essay, I wrote about my connection to the place and the inspiration the beautiful Maine landscape has given me compositionally. I also wrote an anecdote about a time I went whale watching there.

Also, I didn’t interview: I am however visiting the school this Friday. It is one of my TOP choices, and I didn’t mean to miss the interview deadline (I mailed in my application on the 31st and couldn’t find the link to interview off campus). I updated them on my awards, however. Does this affect my chances? I am hoping my essays will speak for me.

Just curious, but what is the purpose of this thread? You already applied anyway, you did what needed to be done, and that’s it. Now just wait. Oh, and also do not forget to submit the FA application to them by the Feb 15 deadline, if you need FA.

I myself applied RD to Bowdoin, and still haven’t heard anything back from them yet. Crossing my fingers. In my opinion, your stats are decent. You should have a fair chance for Bowdoin. However, you really do not submit SAT/ACT? I know that Bowdoin is technically a non-SAT college, but still… Did you not take it at all, or your scores are simply not good enough and you decided not to submit them? How about AP scores?

Nah, but don’t worry about it, your music talent outweighs everything. If I were a Bowdoin adcom, I would love to admit such an accomplished pianist like you… Good luck:)

P.S: Did you receive a PIN number or something like that to check the app status? I haven’t, and I am super worried:(

^If you are that concerned about app status, check the website and locate the regional admission counselor for your home area and call or email them for a status check. Bowdoin has not issued any PINs to my knowledge.

Looks like you have an above-average shot with your GPA and ECs. I also did not receive a pin, but I wouldn’t worry. If something is missing, you will be contacted

I just wanted to get feedback on what my chances were as a candidate: I just came back from a visit where I met with the awesome music department. Is it too late to switch my application to EDII?

Thanks for all of the great feedback! To all of those who applied, best of luck to you! I hope you all get accepted.

idonotknow, I didn’t receive a PIN, but they did confirm with me via email that they received my application. If you haven’t heard from them yet, I would call admissions.

I haven’t received my mid year update grades for the above listed classes yet… This year, I did one set of classes for my first semester, and another set for my second semester… this is the second semester set… I’ll email my gc to send a mid year update- thank goodness I just noticed this
