Keep working hard and make sure that your grades keep going in an upswing. Then prepare for the ACT. Cal Poly prefers the ACT. Hire a tutor and take lots of practice exams. Score at least 30 or above and you should have no problem. Also, do yourself a favor and do a summer program at the school for HS students. You’ll love it.

Convert your GPA using the CSU/UC GPA formula. Scoring a 30 COULD be a problem, particularly because you are majoring in Architecture and your uw GPA, although very good taking rigorous classes, could be a little higher. Hopefully you are in the top 10% of your class. If I were you I would take BOTH the ACT and the SAT to see which on produces your most competitive scores. Good luck.

I take the act for the first time on feb 11 I’ve taken prep tests and scored well in math but the English part brings my scores down, will they look at the individual scores or the overall score?

I heard the high school applications got swarmed this year.

I heard the transfer applicants are a up a little, but the freshmen applicants is just flooded.

Cal Poly is also trying to allow more first generation college students and transfer students with the new vice president. It’s going to be a hard year to get in for you freshmen out there. Best of luck.

@Chrischjump When I visited campus they said that they focus on whatever part of the standardized test is related to your major. That being said, you do have to reach a certain level in order to be considered. The way he explained it was that if you’re an Architecture major you’re not going to be “competing” against an English major. So they wouldn’t expect you to score REALLY well in English. What matters more to them is your math score. In other words, yes they look at each section and weigh it based on your intended major
