Hi, i'm planning on applying to prep schools in the US next year (I'm from Vietnam). And I just got my SSAT score 2 hours ago. I don't know where to apply! I'm really rooting for Exeter, Andover, Deerfield and Lawrenceville. Do I stand a chance?
My score:
Verbal Score ******716
(SSAT Percentile 77%)

Math Score ********755
(SSAT Percentile 73%)

Reading Score ******773
(SSAT Percentile 99%)

Total Score ********2244
(SSAT Percentile 93%)

Please help me! Thank you! I'm very grateful!

Those are only scores. No one can ‘chance you’ purely on scores. Scores are important only to the extent that they show you can handle boarding school curriculum, since all school systems are different. But to put it in perspective for you, your score is the average at Andover.

Jeez, what’s with the recent influx of Vietnamese applicants? (I’m one myself).

Your results definitely set you on the running for those schools. Do realize, that you will be required to retake the test once the next admission cycle comes though. Try to boost your verbal and math to ~80%ile in order to, I dunno, look nicer. 'Cause I believe 73%ile could be damaging for Exeter?

Remember - SSAT scores aren’t everything. There are applicants with scores in the high 90s and get rejected from the schools all the time. I advise that you branch out to more match schools that are equally good - Taft, St. Andrews (DE), Peddie, The Hill, NMH, just to name a few. You may want to check out this useful thread:

Maintain the good grades. Find something you’re truly passionate and stick to it - having a plethora of EC’s < actual commitment to only a few of them. Show your personality in the essays. Stand out. Be nice during interviews - don’t be pretentious and try to act like a smartass - just be nice.

Are you also applying for financial aid?
