Please chance me for the following schools:
WUSTL
Northwestern
UChicago
UPenn
Cornell
Harvard (legacy)
MIT

(also if you think of any other schools I would fit in at please let me know)

Very solid shot at every school there, will probably get into Cornell and MIT isn’t too likely unless you are doing Intel or Siemens with your research (I recommend you do).

What is your intended major?

Thank you and I might consider Intel. I said I was intending on Biological Sciences/Pre-med. I heard the WUSTL Pre-Med program is one of the toughest in the country. I chose these schools as they are some of the best in terms of research and that’s what I really want to do.

@Cortana431 You don’t need Intel or Siemens to get into MIT… In fact, most accepted students probably didn’t do either!

I’d say you have a solid shot at any of those schools! Good luck! (=

I think you have a solid shot at northwestern and cornell, at least. I’ve also heard that the WashU med track is insanely hard to get into, but certainly not impossible. harvard and mit are touch and go for anyone, but you have decent credentials for a fighting chance. good luck!

OK thank you. Anything about Penn or UChicago?

I know someone who is going for chem at uchicago who had a 35 on his act and someone else who had a 36 superscore. I don’t think that test scores are the biggest factor at all, but maybe get those up before you apply. then again, I also know someone who got columbia with a 29 act so you never know. at the same time, you are hispanic…so…schools like diversity that isn’t contributed by asians.

I’m sure you already know you have a great shot at all of these schools.

Where do you rank exactly? Are you a genuine Harvard Legacy in that one of your parents attended as an undergrad? State? Income level? Type of HS? What is your ethnic origin?

@Waverly, We don’t have a specific class rank, just a percentile. My dad attended Harvard as a Physics major. And my income level is high (~250,000 I estimate). I attend a large public high school.

Honestly, I think you have a good shot at Harvard if you apply SCEA… Legacy + URM will definitely help… Plus, if you don’t apply for financial aid, that’ll help too…

Obviously, I’m not positive you’ll get in, but I think you’ll be a really good candidate…

Sigh of relief… Thanks guys.

Waverly ethnicity is hispanic(stated at the top).

You’re right lesleycordero and I wrote that bad its not what I indended. I meant that to get into a school like MIT you need to show strong achievement in math and/or science which OP can do through intel and Siemens (just one possibility)

Haha no problem, but don’t relax too much! You’re not definitely in; we just think you’ve got a good shot… Spend a lot of time on your essays- they’re important…

Good luck (=

@Cortana Well of course it’ll help; it’s just some people don’t have the resources to be able to stuff like that… I honestly don’t know much about intel, but for Siemens, my school was going to enter, but because we didn’t have enough $, we ended up not entering…

Also consider penn state, they have a very strong 6 year premed program. My friend actually turned down Harvard do to the pre med program at penn state ( he probably got more money from penn state too)

But is Penn State a strong research institution?

I’d put the shot at Harvard as fair. You don’t get much of a bump for being Hispanic these days if you’re not low income and first gen. However, being a legacy helps. I must tell you as a Harvard alumni interviewer, most legacies I’ve seen with a 2250 and just top 10% are not getting in now. But I’d put your chance at better than average because of the Hipanic tip.

Average chances at the rest. Especially if not applying early.
