2011 Freshman Class Profile
Mid-50% GPA: 3.76 - 4.07
Mid-50% SAT: 1940 - 2160
Mid-50% ACT: 28-32

Ga Tech asks for a self-reported GPA of academic courses, where you add .5 quality points for AP courses, but not honors.

The 4 most important critieria are GPA/rigor of courses, standardized test scores, essay & EC’s. They do not consider letters of recommendation.

I don’t believe that OOS acceptance is any harder than in-state.

i have seen the stats and stuff, but I would like opinions from other people about whether they think i will have a chance of getting into this college based on my scores and high school career

Current Georgia Tech student here. It would definitely be a good idea to retake the SAT, since the average total score for this year’s incoming class was 2100, up from 2000 the year before. SAT subject tests are not considered.

It’s worth noting that [GT’s standards have been going up a lot lately](http://gatech.edu/newsroom/release.html?nid=117261). Getting some volunteer/work experience on your application would do a lot to make you stand out.

If you haven’t seen it already, the Common Data Set (http://www.irp.gatech.edu/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/2011-2012-Common-Data-Set-for-Posting-5-4-122.pdf</a> , go to page 7) tells what is considered for making admission decisions. State residency is considered “important,” although I know a lot of current students that are from another state.

I’m a current GT student as well.
Definitely improve your critical reading score to at least 650 on the SAT (buy the Kaplan and Barron’s and all the other study books and do them all). I’m not too familiar with the ACT but you should at least get a 30 overall and definitely improve your critical reading.

If you did well in your AP classes (4’s and 5’s on tests), you should be okay. Improve your GPA in your senior year - don’t slack.

You need some volunteer work and leadership. As nice as it is to be involved in tons of clubs, it doesn’t mean anything if you did not have a position (and a title).

If you pull up those things, I think you should get in.
