what is my chance for RD?

As a Caltech admit, I’d say this: there are two type of people that are usually admitted into Caltech. There are the competition-title-ranking people (you, more or less) and those that are less proficient in terms of scores but compensate in other categories. With regards to your chances, I’d say they are solid. You are competitive. Like I say, though, it is rather unpredictable these days (unless you publish research, which, in the past, has helped to get into Caltech.) Either way, one of the most important things in regards to applying to Caltech is showing AN INTEREST IN SCIENCE above all else through any means (essay, extracurricular focus, research [if possible]).

You have a decent shot. You have the academics the real key is showing a deep interest in math/science. S1 had a better gpa than you but act was a point lower. He was deeply involved in math and science, thats what got him in (along with his essay). At least in our opinion.
