Sorry to do this but I really want to know my chances for next fall.

I'm a white, non-Hispanic male from NJ. I go to a public high school in Essex county.

SATs: 1960 (super scored) (CR:640, Math: 640, Writing:670).
GPA: 4.1 (possibly more now) weighted.

EC's are one of my bright spots. I play baseball (also played football). I play trumpet in my school's honor band. I'm a volunteer tutor with a program that runs in my district. A friend and I host a TV program on local access and we do a weekly radio segment with a local college broadcasting station. I'm involved heavily in my church's youth ministry program. I work at a day camp during the summer. I am also a leader in my school's Italian Culture Club.

Junior year I finished with at least an A- in every subject and I was in two APs: AP US History and AP Language and Composition. My senior year I'll be enrolled in AP Literature, AP Environmental Science and AP US Government and Politics.

I'm not sure whether I want to apply to the Business school or do Economics in the School of A's and S's, but as of right now I'm thinking the latter because the Business school is harder to get into. I've also visited Nova once, if that counts for anything. Thanks!

That TV program sounds kind of cool. Definitely demonstrate that as your strong point in your essays. Your SAT score and GPA is a little above average so you are good there. Admissions are becoming more selective each year at VU. I believe the acceptance rate fell to 38% for this past year. I still think you stand a good shot though, good luck!

Thanks a lot for the feed back! My friend intends on being a communications major so he’s the one that got us into it. I take a lot of pride in the shows though, lots of hard work.

Villanova is my top school for several reasons, keeping my fingers crossed for next year!

I think you have a good chance for VU Arts and Sciences but not the Business School. VBS typically kids have 700s SAT scores.

Your scores are like many of the accepted applicants. So demonstrating interest by visiting & reaching out to admissions is important. Send your application early. Your supplemental essay about your church’s youth ministry will be important. VIllanova definitely celebrates it’s Catholic roots so if you can demonstrate outstanding Christian values-- whatever religion you are- that is a plus.

Class rank will be important. Your gpa is good and your SATs are just a bit below average. You have good ECs and have a good shot at being admitted. If you are in the top 10% of your class, that would solidify it for you.

I guess class rank is something I need to look into but I’d assume I’m at least somewhere close to the top 10 percent. Really the only thing that worries me a bit is that I didn’t break 1300 (on the 1600 scale), although 1290 is about as close as you can get. Also concerned about tuition costs, definitely need to get some money.

And to be clear, no chance for the Business school?
