Intended Major: Something Engineering or Computer Science

Senior year courses: 5 APs, 13 AP courses total throughout high school

My rank and GPA have kind of depreciated since freshman year. Then again I did take 6 AP courses last year, which limited the amount of time I had to spend on each course which led to the decline. Do I have a good chance at any of these schools? Also should I add any good ones that I have not mentioned on here that I could probably get into?

List:
Cornell Engineering
Carnegie Mellon
Boston University
Georgia Tech
RIT
University of Maryland
Virginia Tech
Penn State and Pittsburgh as safeties.

Good safeties, to start. Good volunteering, lacking a little in leadership, and low SAT Writing. Depends on your major, but consider taking again.

Cornell - reach for anyone
CMU - reach for anyone
BU - target
GT - target
RIT - safety
U of M - target
Virginia Tech - safety

Based on your SAT scores, you don’t have many reaches. And some of those targets may be safeties and I’m calling them targets b/c I’m not sure how competitive your high school is. May want to find some more reaches.

Take Math II Subject Test to improve your chances at CMU and Cornell.

Thanks for replying! Would taking more leadership positions next year help my application out? Also, I’m doing Comp Sci probably so writing shouldn’t be a big deal right? My high school is consistently ranked very near the top in the state. Highly competitive; large class sizes as well. I was planning on taking Math II and Physics/Biology in October. Thanks again!

I think your probably in at everywhere except for cornell, cmu and gt.

I think you have a great shot at cornell, they really appreciate people who focus on math and sciences!

GPA definitely excellent. ECs great. You should bring up your Writing and you could be in pretty much for sure in all places except Cornell. I would shoot for the stars.

Try for Caltech? :stuck_out_tongue: Nah I’m not that crazy, but thanks!
