****Obviously, my stats are not spectacular, and I'm highly unlikely to get into top schools because of my lackluster academic/ extracurricular performance so far. But in truth, I feel that I have matured throughout high school, and through my experience working with lower-income kids and trying to teach them to enjoy education and learn I have learned myself the value of education--it is not just another "mandatory" qualification for success and a source of pride, it is the chance to improve oneself to become much greater. (sounds really corny but I REALLY feel this way ;x)

planning on applying ED to Northwestern IF it helps and I actually still have a shot of getting in ED lol :///

Your academic numbers actually sound pretty good to me. Your SAT in easily in the middle 50% range and solid SAT II numbers. Being top 10 in a competitive high school of 300+ is great.

Your ECs sound a bit thin. However, it might be simply a case of only listing titles instead of specific accomplishments. I like that you state “raised $2000 for March of Dimes” instead of simply “Features Editor”. Remember that some schools (especially large, competitive high schools) tend to have dozens of “editors” on the school paper who do little more that write an occasional article and show up at meetings once per month.

bumppppppppppp
