Chance me... please!

I've applied to Michigan State... my #1 choice by far.

GPA - Unweighted - 1.9
ACT - 26

I've had a really low GPA obviously, but a sweet ACT score..

I'm a first-generation American (parents from Europe), I've had 2 part time jobs, and I've started a club in my senior year and my GPA through 5 weeks is about a 3.5
I've really been looking to turn it around...
My father was deported, my mother was laid off, and my mothers income the past 2 years has been $0, so I believe this affected my GPA a lot, as I've always been a really good student..

I applied and wrote a STELLAR essay (peer reviewed by 4 people, all of which are in college or graduated) about my unfortunate experiences, and even got a letter of recommendation from one of my former teachers who also went to MSU...

Not sure about this one but a low GPA will never make a school a safety.

High match maybe?
