Chance me please!

Any input on my chances would be greatly appreciated!

Chances at: Bates, Skidmore, Colby, Occidental, Pitzer, Hamilton, Colorado College, Connecticut College, Franklin and Marshall, and UC-Santa Barbara (random, I know)

Me: Hispanic, Male from highly competitive public school in suburban Chicago. I will not be needing financial aid.

Stats:
UW GPA: 3.5 I had a rough Freshman year. I have a large upward trend in my grades. I had a 3.72 UW GPA my junior year.

W GPA: ~4.0. I took almost all AP/Honors/Accelerated courses through high school.

AP scores: Psych 4, Stats 5.

My EC's are great. Lots of sports and community service.

ACT: 30 (32 reading, 32 english, 29 Math, 27 Science)

bump… anyone?

…bump…

…bump…

Haha, anyone? Please?

Lol funny how no one has replied yet, but I think you have a decent shot at most of those schools especially since you don’t need financial aid. Your act score is competitive enough and colleges like upward trends (my gpa was a downward trend but still kind of high, 3.71, in mostly advanced courses). But anyway it doesn’t hurt to apply to any of those schools. Make sure your essays are well written, interesting, and shows the real you.
Good luck and can you chance me back?

Okokokok, thank you for your response, and I’d be happy to chance you back! Anyone else?

bumppppp…

please, anyone?

You’re Hispanic. You’re FINE. (This coming from a disgruntled Asian.)

But like, seriously though. You’ll be fine.

Write a good essay and dream big. =D

thechor346, thanks for the response. People tell me many different things on the effect of being a URM. Do you really think it matters that much?

bump…

You’re already in all those. Seriously. You said your ECs were great, with community service and sports, I’ve heard it’s good to have at least one arts EC, but anyways, you should be fine. You should try more competitive schools, I really mean that, maybe other UCs?
Chance back, please?

cakley, i chanced you back. thanks for the feedback. how high do you think i could go with these stats? i’m leaning more towards LAC’s.

I’m not familiar with any of the colleges, but I think you would have a shot at any school other than Ivy League/near Ivy League. The minority card helps a lot as well and if you don’t need financial aid, you don’t have to worry about qualifying for scholarships either (unlike me XP).

Chance me maybe?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1452919-sigh-yet-another-chance-me-thread-xd.html

metrotenderbb I think you are a great candidate at all of those schools! A lot of the east coast LACs need more diversity, so being a URM should help a bit, combined with your very solid stats.
Bates- high match
Skidmore- high match
Colby-low reach
Occidental-match
Pitzer-high match (this is a tricky on because it is so small that you really have to “fit” what they are looking for, along with being qualified)
Hamilton-low reach
Colorado College-high match
Connecticut College- match
Franklin and Marshall-low match/safety?
UC-Santa Barbara
