Chance Me PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

2 schools I'm applying to are Duke and Cornell, so I was wondering what my chances are for each.

Intended major: biomedical engineering
Potential schools: Duke, Cornell, Columbia, Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins, UPenn, Northwestern, WashU in St. Louis, NYU Stern

GPA (weighed): 3.99. Ranked 33/333

SAT's: 2250 in 1 sitting (800 M/730 CR/720 W), 800 Math II, 730 Bio E, 720 Chem, 750 US.
Rigorous schedule: AP Physics C, AP Calc AB, Research in Molecular Biology, AP Gov, English Honors, AP European History, AP Stats for senior year. I've always taken honors/ap classes. In the past, AP Chem, AP Bio, AP Econ, APUSH, Spanish I-IV Honors.

EC's: I'm on the Debate team at my school, have gone to nationals and have won enough awards to seem accomplished. I am VP of my club as well and regularly mentor others. I created 3 websites for another club and have gone to nationals twice. I am an officer for that club, which is related to history. I am part of Spanish National Honor Society, tutoring peers during lunch. I went to states for DECA, which is a business-oriented club. I play the violin, play racquetball, am on the leadership team in taekwondo (have been doing it for 11 years and am second degree black belt).

Volunteer: I volunteer at a nursing home, have become the youngest project coordinator ever to promote the organization. I volunteered at a science museum over the summer, explaining various exhibits. Was also a team statistician for a baseball team one year.

To add, I won National Merit Scholar Commended Student award and AP Scholar with Honors this past year.

So????????

bump!!!

hey there.
Your GPA (top 10 percent) and SAT Score are good. Right up there at the level for the Ivies.
Your ECs are okay though. The adcoms might like the fact that you showed dedication in Tae kwon Do. But nothing spectacular (sorry)
So right now, UPenn and Columbia are low reaches i’d say.
Though you’d have better chances at Cornell i would say.
NYU Stern isnt as hard to get in as it’s made out to be (or so I’ve heard)
Anyways, for you, essays might be the dealmaker / dealbreaker, so focus on them and youre good to go!
All the best!

Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1411650-chance-indian-hypd-cornell-mit-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

I’d have thought UPenn and Columbia are high reaches based off that?

bumpity bump bump!!!

ok i guess no one will add to that :(

what’s your unweighted gpa? 3.99 seems like a low weighed gpa for ivies, since you’ve taken a lot of ap classes. Your ECs look really good to me, especially the Tae Kwon Doe and going to nationals. Your SAT score’s good too.
I’d say Cornell and CMU are low reaches, while Columbia, Duke, and Penn are reaches. If you can, try to include an explanation on your ivy apps for your grades.
Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1420158-chance-me-stanford-duke-penn-ed-etc-ill-chance-back.html</a></p>

My school doesn’t offer unweighed gpa, unfortunately :(

How should I explain my grades? where do i explain this on the app???

So your gpa’s out of a 5.0 scale? How many Bs or Cs did you get?
On the common app, there’s an additional info section where you can explain any circumstances that might’ve negatively impacted your grades.

On a scale from 1 to 10, you have a zero percent chance of going to any college

Don’t worry about where to explain- your grades will be shown in your transcript and colleges will most likely recalculate your GPA with their own system. But it may help us to chance you if you list out all of your final grades here.

According to my counselor, gpa at my school is on a 4 scale since that’s what cp levels give as an a+. i don’t understand why since i take honors/ap. i’ve never gotten a c on my transcript, and have about 80% a-'s, 1 solid a, 15% b+'s, 5% b’s.
