If you were in-state, you’d be set, but because you’re out-of-state it’s likely but unsure I think. They have 2/3 of their accepted applicants from in-state, but 2/3 of the applications they receive are from out of state.

I agree with plue00, my fellow classmate! Despite the OOS tag, you’re definitely in. That’s a pretty solid SAT score and decent ECs. URM status almost overqualifies you for UVa, so don’t be surprised if you get into other amazing institutions, making your decision a little tougher.

WOW!!, I had no idea we had so many representatives from the UVa admissions office that were posting on this board. It’s really impressive that they are able to make these determinations without seeing the OPs transcript and school profile (or any other part of the OPs admissions file in front of them).

blue, I know from your other posts that you get peeved by chances posts & responses, but really, the OP wanted opinions, especially from other students, and that’s what he (? guessing gender) is getting. I think everyone involved knows that these are not definitive assessments.

There’s an entire forum for student who wish to have their chances assessed and for those who wish to chance them - as Dean J herself has pointed out.

I can appreciate your comment exstudent, although I see nowhere in the OPs post that directs it towards students specifically. You’ll see I only quoted the ‘hands down definitive’ type statements. I think any of these, both positive and negative are harmful to the students. As sabaray points out, there’s an entire forum just for this.

^^ and as the crazy thread-that-won’t-die about the kid with a 2390 SAT not getting in shows, there is nothing anyone can put on here from which anyone can determine that person should-or should not, actually- be accepted.
The thing I’m stressing to my stressed child is just do your best on the applications. If you did your best in school and on tests and put together the strongest application you can create, then you’ve won the part you can control.
Obamasuncle, good luck. Relax, enjoy your winter break and the last part of senior year. Let Dean J and the rest take it from here.
