I think it's important to note that GT only looks at ACT Math and English sections so the 28 composite score won't be used in their admissions process. Also, I immigrated to the US in 8th grade and was even taking ESOL classes at one point. Combine this with the upward trend in my GPA, and I think that this could really help me. I am also talking about this in my college essays.

Please be completely honest in your posts! Its time for some hard truth..

BUMP 10char

They take All tests through the end of January. Can you take the SAT or some SAT II test’s in something you had an advanced class in?

The website says that the profile for this years freshman is:
Mid-50% ACT: 28-32
Mid-50% SAT: 1960 - 2160

You are in the ACT range but having some SAT II’s might help because the admitted students scores keep going up each year.

You’re good

Test score in range. Your GPA prob falls in range for GaTech as well. IB definitely helps.

@MichiganGeorgia I actually took one SATII in Math level 2 and only got a 670. Should I report this score?

@FraNeighbor Thanks for the feedback.

I read on GT’s website that they don’t discriminate between in-state and OOS applicants. Is this true?

Eddie - I’m not sure… Have you looked at the SAT II scores of the kids who got accepted EA sent in? I’m not clear what ranges are good to sent in for SAT II’s. I wouldn’t think it would hurt to send it in and it may help. But I’d see what some other people think first.

I looked at the EA results thread and most of the acceptees have 700+ SAT2’s. But there are applicants who got in without submitting any, so I think I would be better off by not reporting that score. Moreover, I don’t have straight A’s in all of my math classes, so I think submitting that score will only hurt me :/

Thanks for all your help Michigan.

You do not need to send SAT II’s for acceptance.

Despite my 750 M2 and 780 Bio M I didn’t submit it. It does not hurt at all.

And GaTech accepts only the Chemistry and English SAT II tests for college credit

@FraNeighbor I am glad to hear that!
@meggie7 Thanks for the info.

Does anybody know how much being from OOS can hurt your application? is it significantly harder for OOS students to get in?

@Eddie

From my understanding, since GaTech is a public school, I believe they are bound to accepting more applicants In-State than OOS. They probably just follow State/Fed laws like any other public institution. By this, you’ll probably be at a disadvantage compared to In-state.

You’re IB so take into account that 80.5% of IB kids get in so don’t sweat it! :)

FraNeighbor, you have no idea how relieved I am by seeing those statistics! Haha nice find! And congratulations for getting into Ga Tech class of 2017! Go Yellow Jackets!
