Your scores and GPA are all fine! Your EC’s could be a issue because the HYP are all interested in the all around student no matter race. From my experience, URM’s that get into those schools have superlative EC’s that stand out. I think you have a chance to get into any of the schools its just a matter of where you fit. Why did you not apply EA or ED? Your a prime candidate for going Early. Your ACT Reading score is strong. Adcom’s will notice that immediatedly in your favor. There are not many perfect scores in that area among all students. I know it is a big plus even for STEM applicants. Just pray your essays shine through because that it what might carry you. Your chances are high! Good luck

Yeah, I truly regret not being in more things. I had a chance to be in People to People, but I couldn’t afford it. Everything costs so much, lol. If I’m rejected I’ll be okay, though.
I wanted to apply scea to H SO BAD. But there was no money for taking the ACT and subject tests before the deadline. T_T The RD round is going to be horrid with a 3% rate. H is my dreeaamjshsvbaj xD Oh, well!
I feel like my scores are too low. I wish I could retake everything. sigh I called H and I was told the range of ACT scores for accepted students was 28-36, but I’m sooooo worried. My math and science scores are so low. :’(

we only have 6 schools in common (5 now since u withdrew WUSTL)?? i thought i see u on pretty much every thread lol. thats not a bad thing btw. ur funny lol

I saw you a couple of time alexissss and you really looked like a balances person (because some people on this forum can be…how to say it without upseting anyone…special…). My stats are very much alike yours except that I am an international student, and as you did, I hesitated a lot before posting a chance thread. I really hope you’ll get wherever you want to go because I truly think you deserve that. Additionally your economic background is a plus (if I can say that…it has put you at a disadvantage, for once it can help you…). As i said before, I really hope you’ll get there and your story could even be the one Harvard, Yale, Princeton or Stanford are going to tell to show how diverse their pool is and so on (marketing but, I’ve seen several reruns of “From homeless to Harvard”). Plus your GPA is in the range, your standardized scores too, or maybe slightly below (doe not mean that much, they reject hundreds, if not thousands of applicants with perfect scores). I’m sure you’ll be accepted in at least one top university (hoping Harvard) or at least a top LAC such as Williams or Amherst.

Oh, thankyouthankyouthankyou. You’re so kind. = ̄ω ̄= I’m hoping my story will make up for some shortcomings? I mean, no excuses…just understanding I suppose. Thank you for believing in me. I wish the best for you for this college process, too!

If you focus heavily on your love of science in all parts of your application (including interviews and recommendations), and how eager you are to take advantage of all the research and extracurricular opportunities in college because you weren’t able to in high school given your family situation, youll have a great chance at any of these schools.

Also in regards to financial limits of taking tests including SAT/ACT and APs, you should check with your high school counselor office. A lot of schools offer financial aid for low-income students to take those tests for free.

Yea, I didn’t get any fee waivers for the SAT or ACT because I’m a gap year kid. The discount poor kids received for taking AP tests stopped being a good deal my senior year. :’(
