Honestly speaking, I think you have a very slim chance. Your GPA is quite low compared to other applicants, your SATs are also quite low compared to other applicants; your ECs look ok, but nothing really amazing sticks out to me. Maybe if you really write good essays and really make an impact during your ECs, you may have better chances. Good luck!

Thank you for the honest reply!

The GPA I posted is not including my first semester senior year grades. I got a 4.5; will this have any impact on my decision?

The 33 in the ACT is roughly equivalent to a 2200 in the SAT. I would not even submit the SAT results. As for your GPA, I think your chances are directly related to how you have done each year. If your Freshman/Sophomore/Junior GPS were 3.8/3.7/3.6, I would think you would have little chance. On the other hand your grades were 3.5/3.7/3.9 (with a steller senior year as well) I would think your chances would improve. A school like Penn might sometimes make allowances for early high school grades. Still, as a prior poster noted, 3.71 is still quite low for a school like UofP. Penn’s common data sets notes that 88% of their enrolling students had GPAs north of 3.75. The remaining 12% are likely student athletes, URMs, and maybe some legacies. Does that describe you?
