Chance me please!

Currently a high school junior, still trying to narrow down school choices. I'm looking to go into some marketing-related field of communications.
ACT: 31 composite, looking to retake
GPA (UW): currently a 3.65, but should be higher at the end of this year; my GPA has gone up significantly since freshman year (freshman - 3.4, sophomore - 3.7, junior - expected 3.9)
Class rank: unsure, will find out at end of year

APs: AP Gov this year and AP English next year - my school doesn't offer many APs - but all classes I'm taking are honors, if my school offered an honors class in that subject

ECs
- three years of speech and debate, three-time state qualifier
- three years of Drama Club, member of International Thespian Society
- four years of Elite Choir
- two years of varsity softball, earned letter
- member of NHS
- won best essay in the state for Laws of Life Essay Contest
- peer tutoring
- two years of Latin, two of French, self-taught Polish
- run successful YouTube channel where I have accumulated over 17k subscribers (don't know if this counts for anything, but I've seen people include things like this before)

The only schools I have on my list right now are NYU (I know it's a reach) and the University of Florida, but I really am looking to go to school somewhere near New York City. Could anyone chance me for those two schools or suggest any in the city that might be a match for me? Thank you!

(Also, if it counts for anything, I can write a pretty mean essay.)

It may be high match for NYU if you can bring your GPA up to 3.8+, otherwise, it would be a low reach. U of F should be a match.

That was somewhat encouraging, thank you!

Bump, more opinions would be appreciated. :)

mine was deleted… but yea, youre fine

I think it’s because you’re not supposed to ask to be chanced in someone else’s thread… but thank you.

Quick bump. :)

UF was unpredictable with its admissions. A girl from my son’s class who is known to be pretty dumb got in with a GPA of around 3.3 and ACT of 24, but another classmate with a 3.6 GPA and 31 ACT (and URM) got rejected. Nothing is guaranteed.

I think your softball should help a lot with colleges

@PsychoDad10: Yeah, I’ve heard that about UF. Thank you!

@Mosper: Even if it was only for freshman and sophomore year?

I think so because you were in the varsity team as a underclassman

Ah, okay, that makes sense. Thanks!

Old thread bump.

NYU- match
U of Florida- low match.

chance back?

Boost the ACT, try and take any and all other AP classes offered, and you should be fine for NYU. UF is temperamental, but you should be okay as well. UF doesn’t look at recommendations though, it’s number driven, so really try and boost the weighted GPA.
