Hi, I’m responding because no one else has, because no one really knows…since Case has been more selective lately. I would say if you have about 7 AP’s with mostly 5’s and an SAT score of 2200 and higher, you have a good chance. You SAT’s are a bit low, so I would concentrate on getting them higher. GPA’s, I recently read online are no longer a big deal, since high schools inflate grades and it’s hard for colleges to really assess them. I think your extracurriculars are very good, especially since you worked.

So the only advice I would give you is to for you to raise your SAT or ACT scores. Case is looking to be more competitive and wants their stats to show that they are admitting kids with higher SAT’s. (Its part of their 5 year strategic plan). They are willing to give out lots of $ to attract better students. They also are looking to be more diverse. As an Indian, you will be classified as Asian, and I believe currently they are about 20%, which is alot compared to other schools, but If you were a girl and Hispanic or Black, you would have a better chance in getting in, since they are short on those #'s and they are actively trying to be more diverse. (They also have a Diversity Plan in place)

So, in conclusion, no one really knows for sure, in my opinion, you have a very good chance, since I’ve seen kids get in with lower stats. Being Out of State, That would help. Try to do really well in Math II SAT, You need to show high Calculus and Chem. #'s especially since you want to get into Chem. Engineering. If you really truly want to get in, make sure you visit the school and get your name on the mailing list. Make sure you attend the open houses, or visit them at the college fairs. Type up a resume, and hand it to the Case rep at all the college fairs. Follow up w. letters, etc. Good luck!!!

I agree with essentially everything jujumak said. Case is getting more and more selective so it’s difficult to say (this year alone the acceptance rate dropped by around 15%). But based on your stats and extra circulars I think you have a pretty good shot. Work on your test scores because that is something you have time to fix. With a little studying you should be able to increase it quite a bit. Also be sure to spend plenty of time on your essay and application.

The other piece of advice I have is to apply early. This will help your chances and may even give you the possibility of winning a decent scholarship, especially if you get better scores. Good luck!!

I’d say you have a very good chance at getting in. Case may be selective but it’s not as selective as most people hype it up to be (it is still ranked 37th after all, just being realistic). You have a good set of ECs and your GPA is about case’s range (especially if you are at a large school that sends people to the Ivies, that will be taken into account and your GPA will likely be bumped up above many others).

That being said, improving your GPA and SATs can really benefit you. Case likes to give a lot of merit aid to students with high GPAs and SATs and good extracurriculars. You don’t need to be perfect at all of them, but the more the better (just as a point of reference, I got 1 A in one class for my entire senior year and got more Bs than As junior year and I still got in with a good scholarship because of my essay and SATs and APs). The better of an applicant you are the more likely you’ll get a full ride.
