I'm apply to (or thinking of applying to) particular colleges: UGA, Purdue, Virginia Tech, Georgia State, Pepperdine, BU, and Babson.

My top choices are UGA, Purdue, and Virginia Tech. (UGA being number one.)

GA resident, male, white

I will retake the SAT one more time, and I have just retaken the ACT. Most colleges look at the better so.... Tell me what you would suggest my SAT be to better my chances.

5 AP classes:
AP US History (score: 4)
AP Computer Science (score: 1-bad teacher, most colleges dont look at AP scores though)
AP US Government (SR year)
AP Macroeconomics (SR year)
AP Statistics (SR year)

Eagle Scout Project: I built a basketball court in Liberia (West Africa) for a school and an orphange and donated supplies such as basketballs, uniforms, and other supplies.

Extra Information: My mother passed away from breast cancer when I was a freshman in high school. My mom also went to Purdue.

I go to McIntosh High School in Peachtree City, GA. My school is rated a "10" on greatschools.com, and it is considered the to 5 or 10 in the state by schooldigger.com.

Give me a percent chance if you can.

I’m also applying (or have already applied) early for UGA, Purdue, and GA State.

I think all of these schools are matches.

bump! I will chance back anyone.

I would say UGA is a match/low reach.
Purdue - match (and your mother being an alumni should help further)
VT - match

try getting your SAT into the 1900-2000 range and your chances will get much better…your extracurriculars are great though
i think all of these schools are matches, except Pepperdine which is a low reach
my condolences for the loss of you mother
good luck!!

Thank you ml1999! Let me know if you have any “chances” and I will help you with those.

Hey I’m from Georgia too!!! I think you have great chances for all of them. Good luck!

I would suggest trying to get your test scores up, but otherwise I think you have a reasonable shot at these colleges

UGA: low reach (59%)
Purdue: match (85%)
VT: match (82%)
Georgia State: low match (91%)
Pepperdine: low reach (51%)
BU: reach (46%)
Babson: reach (38%)
I agree with ml, raising your test scores can turn all these schools into match-high matches, however with your spectacular ECs you probably don’t have the time on your hands to do so. I think most admissions officers will completely understand that though. Good luck!

Chance back?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=1568894

If I raised my test scores to Math: 660, Reading: 560, and Writing: 610. What are my odds at UGA then?

You’re a definite match for Purdue

1830 turns Georgia into a match-high match (75%) give or take 6%

bump! I just wanna hear from some more people…

i think you’ll be fine

Georgia State- Low Match
UGA- Reach
BU- High Reach
Pepperdine- Match
Try to raise your SAT to at least a 1850 to have a better chance at UGA since your GPA is on the lower side.
Good luck!
